He had already gotten into the necessary rhythm and caught the command algorithms. The situation of the Dennison wasn’t exactly perfect. There was massive damage on the tactical systems. Phasers weren’t operational, all the torpedo tubes’ jettisoning mechanisms were badly damaged and shields were barely holding at 8% and it was impossible to get them raised. Tarapik was surprised to find his new assignment is in such a bad condition. At that moment captain Davis entered the bridge and after talking to the ensign at operations, turned her attention toward Tarapik. She asked the Vulcan for his assignment, but he managed to hear notes of sarcasm in her voice – not surprising, due to the condition they were in. “I believe it is a rather… unique assignment,” – he replied in a serious tone, raising his eyebrow. The captain told him that Ensign Divay would instruct him on the ship’s systems. “I do not believe that will be necessary, captain,” – the Vulcan answered – “Starfleet does not send cadets unprepared. I know everything I need. But I do believe I would require a short briefing and tactical analysis for the situation.” (Reply Davis) At that moment the turbolift doors opened and Tarapik prepared to present himself to the officers, coming out of it. He was getting bored by all the introduction but didn’t let anyone around him to understand that. Tarapik turned to the officer with the Vulcan salute and said: “Greetings, I am ensign Tarapik, your new assistant chief tactical officer.” (Reply Davis; whoever is in the turbolift) (Posted by Pavel) (USS Dennison - Engineering - ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs- 1405) After spending the better part of two and a half hours, Ensign Jacobs was finally ready to begin testing the ships. Level 2 diagnostics were preformed, making sure that the vital systems were online, and, just as importantly, sick bay. Now he found himself at his station again, direction ship repairs. They'd made it out of the anamoly and were fairly safe...for now. (Reply None) (Posted by Nick Wreden) (USS Dennison - Ventilation Shaft, Near Engineering - A'CEO, Lt(jg) Nicholas Semme - 1434) Nick hurried through the ventilation shafts, at each juncture he had checked to see the progress of the away team in the holodeck. It seemed like they had got out perfectly fine with a little help from the outside. He continued on through the ventilation shafts and then into a Jeffries tube which would lead him directly outside main engineering. He felt an un-ease of dizziness settle into him slightly and he tried to turn the handle to the ship beyond. His hands slipped and Nick looked down at his blood covered hands. ~Dammit~ He thought to himself, The blood must have either been from Divay or Ele - possibly both, when he had tried to help them. He wiped the blood off his hands but they were still stained blood red. The handle moved and as the door gave in Nick fell through it as another dizzy spell took over. There was a pounding in his right ear and his left leg felt like it was broken, yet he could stand on it without any pain. He stumbled into main engineering and asked for a report. Some of the engineers looked at him like he was crazed. He wasnt crazed just a little confused, his mind was working over-time and the lack of sleep was making him weaker. He shook his head and looked around for the highest ranking officer, "Ensign Jacobs," He said as he stumbled towards the man, "Report. How badly damaged are we?" He said in a loud clear voice. (Reply Jacobs) As he listened to the Ensign, Nick became aware of his dampened hearing. The ensigns words were becoming slurred and Nick could hardly understand them. He squinted slightly and then felt an upsurge in his stomach, ~Oh no~ he thought. He flailed his arms but it was too late. Sick poured out of his mouth all over the Ensigns uniform, Pure red sick. It was burning hot for Nick, his stomach felt like it was on fire and so did his throat. He looked at Jacobs with a plea of help before fluttering to the floor; out cold. (Reply Jacobs) (Posted by Jono) (USS Dennison - Sickbay - Ensign Alahan Trew - 1446) "Need i remind you about the surgery you've just been through? Ash, you will stay put. Alahan, I asked for you to turn up twenty minutes ago, and even though you are the first here, I am not impressed by your dilly-dallying. You will wait here until the Captain, First Officer and A'CEO arrive. Do I make myself clear?" Nymes said, the stress cracking through his normal calm demeanour. Then as the Doctor turned towards Dale, Ash whispered to Alahan "We should have made a run for it when we had the chance." Alahan laughed to himself lightly. "I'm not impressed." ~Who does this doctor think he is? He certainly isn't the commanding officer. It appears that this ship has a CMO with a power thrist.~ Alahan straightened his uniform. "I think that I perfer the EMH." He whispered to Ash. "Ha ha .. shhh he might hear us and sedate us both" Divay whispered back to Trew (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Alahan Trew – 1458 ) Ash then turned to Trew noticing the strange look on his face Ash said "What ?" hoping he didn't notice Divay's attraction towards Dale. Alahan simply shook his head softly with a grin on his face. "You have good taste." He whispered. Still setting on the bio-bed, Alahan rubbed his cold hands on his thighs, then scratched at the stubble that had begun to form on his face. "Do you think he's going to let us out of here any time soon?" Alahan looked around sickbay, and hated being there. He felt confined. A fox hole had ten times more appeal. At least he was in control there. He knew what was going on and what to expect. This doctor was more difficult to read. "He reminds me of home." Alahan whispered to Ash as he nodded in Nymes' direction. "All of the tests, poking, prodding, and lack of bedside manner. I went through enough of that during the host program prelims." (Reply Nymes, Ash,Dee, Any) (Posted Justin Bateman) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1459 ) Alahan simply shook his head softly with a grin on his face. "You have good taste." Ash said Alahan looked around sickbay, Ash noticed a strange look on Trew's face. "He reminds me of home." Alahan whispered to Ash as he nodded in Nymes' direction. "All of the tests, poking, prodding, and lack of bedside manner. I went through enough of that during the host program prelims." Trew said. ~That must have been hell~ Ash thought ,he knew absolutely nothing about What Trew was saying. Then realizing he had been tru similar long medical procedures in his past Ash said "Yea I can feel what u mean Alahan" (Reply Trew) (Reply Nymes,Trew, Any in sickbay ) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison - Engineering -ACEO Ensign Christopher Jacobs - 1435) Jacobs looked about, a smile of satisfaction curving his lips. Repairs were going smoothly, now that there wasn't anything to present new problems. Hell, it even gave him a bit of time to relax as he practically buried himself inside of some random panel, redirecting power from one system to another, replacing damaged parts, and running diagnostics. After the peril the ship had just endured, repairing the aftermath seemed like a walk in the park. ~I never thought I'd actually get to experience the exciting stuff. First day here, too. This is certainly going to be an interesting experience.~ That grin only grew wider at the prospect of later assignments, the thrill and danger of life on a Starship filling the young man with excitement. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Christopher looked back down at his PADD, making a few notes and moving onto the next conduit. His attention, however, was torn from the PADD, as a man in engineering uniform fell through an opening Jeffries Tube, falling to the floor before he slowly righted himself. His uniform was bloodied and his left leg was a little weak. From the look on his face, Jacobs could tell something was not right. ~Crap! I didn't even think to check the communication systems in the ventilation shafts! No wonder I didn't get a response.~ It was true. Considering he'd been talking with the Bridge and other departments just fine, he hadn't even considered communications being down. Chris had called to see if anyone was in the nearby tubes, but do to the anomaly, he'd gotten no response. "Ensign Jacobs, report. How badly damaged are we?" the man almost barked, his expression growing more distant. Christopher wasted no time, however, recounting what had happened in Engineering. "Sir," he addressed him, assuming he was higher rank, "I've managed to restore the quite a bit of power the shields and sickbays and life support are both online. We're running routine..diagnostics...and...re-Sir, are you alright?" He cut himself off, brow quirked in question. As he opened his mouth to what Jacobs thought was going to be a response, a torrent of crimson vomit spewed from his mouth, covering the front of the Ensign's uniform. He stumbled backward, groaning in disgust, though when his eyes fell back to the senior officer, he grit his teeth, bending down to help the man up, draping his arm over his shoulder. With free hand, he tapped his commbadge, calling sickbay. "Engineering to Sickbay, looks like we've got some more injuries down here. Should I risk the turbo lift or will I be able to get some assistance down here?" (Reply Semme, Sickbay) (Posted by Nick) (USS Dennison - Sickbay -CMO Lieutenant j.g Lewis Nymes - 1452) “Could you get Sanders to act as runner. He can go between here and the Xenobiology labs ... and doctor… Thank you.” Nymes just returned the smile, as he went into the office to sort out the orders he needed to give, tapping out Sanders a written command to prepare to act as an intermediary. Suddenly the weight of the problem faced by the viral infection hit him; there were two officers post operation in Sickbay, and two infected people; not the best situation to be in, but nothing could be done about that now: Nymes couldnt be sure that Divay and Bracken weren't carrying the infection, nor whether it was a delayed respiratory transfer. There was one thing the trill could do to try and minimise the possibility of infection spread - especially since the 2ndary sickbay was at full capacity. Frowning at the logistical problems he was facing, he made his decison. "Ensign Trew? Your assistance please." (reply Trew) "Could you help move Ensign's Bracken and Divay into the Starboard ward please; we need to keep them separated from Miss Night." he asked, kindly. "Oh, and could you give this PADD to Ensign Bracken for me as well?" (reply Jacobs) NRPG: assuming response is as in jono's post RPG: "Then I would not use the turbolift, or move at all - You need to erect medical forcefields around your position, and help me out: do you have a tricorder or access to a replicator?" he asked rhetorically. "Scan the patient, can you isolate a viral load in his blood?" (reply Jacobs) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Sickbay - ATAC/SEC Ensign Alahan Trew - 14:55) "Ensign Trew? Your assistance please." Alahan looked in the direction of the doctor somewhat dumbfounded. He found it amazing that this sickbay was at one moment run by a tyrant, and then the next moment a man who was civil and required assistance. The young Ensign found it typical of Trill doctors to run hot and cold, but he had never witnessed one with such turbulent changes. ~Sorry, I can't teach bedside manner.~ he thought as he nodded in agreement to provide assistance. "Could you help move Ensign's Bracken and Divay into the Starboard ward please; we need to keep them separated from Miss Night." he asked, kindly. "Oh, and could you give this PADD to Ensign Bracken for me as well?" Again Alahan responded with a simple nod. He handed the PADD to Bracken, activated the restraining field, and turned on the anti-grav unit. He half smiled at Bracken as he pushed the bio-bed into the other room. "Sorry, I don't have much of a bedside manner." He said lightly as they rounded the corner. He pushed the bed into an empty bay, activated the gravity unit, deactivated the restraining field. (Reply Bracken) Without much delay, Alahan moved to an empty bed, deactivated the gravity unit, and pushed the bed into the main sickbay. He replaced the bed that Bracken was in with the empty bed and moved over to Ash. Alahan activated the restraints. "So you don't fall and break anything else." He then deactivated the gravity unit. He pushed the bed into the other room beside Bracken. "And over here is the operating table..." Alahan laughed to himself, pretending to be a tour guide. "And in here we have you some company for your stay." He put Divay into position beside Bracken. Once the bio-bed was in position, Alahan activated the gravity unit and deactivated the restraints. (Reply Ash) Alahan sat on the empty bio-bed, rubbing his cold hands on his thighs, they could never seem to keep warm. Starfleet didn’t just jettison anyone out of the Academy just because they were eventually going to be. They had to work up to their potential. Still, she wondered how it was that he knew some of the specs of the Dennison when it was recently launched. ~Must have studied up before joining.~ Tapping her foot, she wondered when Banowsky would show up. She didn’t think it would have taken him that long at sickbay. ~Unless something’s wrong, of coarse.~ Gazing over in Temerarious’ direction, she thought about their current situation and decided he could handle the job she was about to ask of him…or rather command. “Temerarious, you have the bridge. Keep working on repairs and help supervise the other repairs going on around the bridge.” ~Not exactly his big moment on having the bridge for the first time, but in due time.~ <> Madison didn’t want to state why she was leaving the bridge, she just wanted to get down to sickbay and have the doctor fix the pain that was leaving her arm feeling swollen and red. She knew it was somewhat of an infection, but she was hoping he could just inject her with something and let her get back to work. (USS Dennison-Sickbay-CO Madison Davis-15:02) After having stopped en route to sickbay to check on various others working on repairs, she stepped inside the parting doors and raised an eyebrow. The last time she’d been to sickbay all was in order…but then again now it fit with the picture the rest of the ship had presented. “I’m here doctor, as promised,” she greeted him. <> “Why is that important?” <> Tilting her head, it didn’t take her much time to think about it. “The only contact I had was when I checked Ensign Night for a pulse…on the side of her neck. But I don’t recall her having any blood near the area that I checked.” <> “Doctor,” she said. “What exactly is wrong with Ensign Night and everyone else who is still in here?” (Reply: Temerarious, Nymes, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1450) Suddenly Chance was making leaps and bounds in fixing the operations console, apparently someone somewhere fixed something and now his board is no longer a reoccurring fireworks display. As he was concentrating on re-wiring the console, yet again; Chance turned his attention to the captain when she addressed him “Temerarious, you have the bridge. Keep working on repairs and help supervise the other repairs going on around the bridge.” “Aye, Skipper.” Temerarious responded as Capt. Davis entered the turbolift. Once the ‘lift doors closed, he looked around the bridge, and went back to work on his board. (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1530) With a satisfied smile on his face, Chance closed-up his console and ran a diagnostics check on it. Happy with the results he turned to face the tactical station “Tarapik, is your station able to receive sensor information from ops again?” (Reply Tarapik) “After the last couple of days I just don’t trust the diagnostics to be accurate, and I want to test the interface between our stations to make sure its good like the diagnostics say it is.” (Reply Tarapik) (Posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1453) Ash and Alahan were busy bustin jokes behind doctors back when doctor suddenly turned around. He handed the PADD to Bracken, activated the restraining field, and turned on the anti-grav unit. He half smiled at Bracken as he pushed the bio-bed into the other room. Ash lay his head back looking up at the roof.wating for Trew to come back for him. In a few mins Alahan was back for Divay. Alahan activated the restraints. His quarters were a total mess however he decided to take care of that later. Trevan sat down at the display terminal which was working thankfully, and he hailed Relay Station 47. The image of someone from Intelligence appeared, but Trevan did not know this woman. Noticing the rank on her uniform, Commodore, he thought it wise not to ask questions. "Commodore, Commander Trevan West calling. I have a report to file." The silver haired woman looked off to the side of the viewer to someone apparently standing next to her out of range of the visual pickup. "Go ahead Commander, I am listening." Trevan went on to explain the situation has it happened, almost moment to moment for over an hour. She asked him many questions, especially regarding divulging classified information to a lower ranking officer that is not currently working for Intelligence. "I can explain sir. I made a command decision. There was no time to contact you, and await your answer. When I was recruited, I was told it was good I was a quick thinker. Well, I put that into practice." he cleared his throat, "I did not divulge any un-necessary information. Just the basics, and a little less than that actually. The officer in question is possibly one of the best I have served with. She has a mind like no other, and if it were not for my quick thinking and her analysis of the area, we wouldn't be here now talking about it." The woman on the screen simply nodded. Weather it was in agreement or not he didn't know. "Very well Commander. You will be contacted." and with that the screen blanked out. "What the hell does that mean!" he yelled to the viewer. Obviously no one was there to hear it. Trevan checked the time display, it showed 1615 hours. He had no time to waste now, he needed to get moving on things. Its a transmissable virus, travelling by a blood-borne route, and changes DNA at the molecular level. Is it truly viral? Is it a Prion? Is it a toxin? No, not a toxin, not if its been transmitted like it has been. So definitely an infection. Now what? Maybe...~ “I’m here doctor, as promised,” Captain Davis had appeared at the CMO Office door. "Captain, Have you had any contact with Elenor Night whilst in the holodeck? Dale inhaled deeply, silent for a few moments before speaking quietely, her brow contorted, deep in thought. “I’ve not heard of it, but as a scientist – I think can see how it’s happened.” Dale caught the looks of the two other officers. “Okay, here’s a thought, although the things on the holodeck aren’t what we’d consider real, after all, it’s only energy changed into matter correct? In the same way that the replicator dispenses stuff, the holodeck does exactly the same thing, only bigger. First of all, Alahan hadn't actively flirted in years though some would argue it was his nature to flirt. Second, flirting with civilians was completely different than flirting with another officer. And finally, Alahan's tactics on flirting with men would likely not translate well to Ash's desire to impress Ensign Bracken. "Mr. Divay, I'm afraid that you are going to have to complete that course by yourself. My expertise provides me with a different tactical advantage." He passed off the information in a manner that would allow him to deny any knowledge of Ash's affection for Ensign Bracken. (Reply Ash) Alahan looked over to Ensign Bracken. He began scratching at the 2 day beard that was growing on his face. He wasn't quite sure at this point, but he was thinking about keeping it. It would mask the spots on his face, but who cared? Exclaimed Alahan as he looked at the planet projected in 3-D above the coffee table. "Not only did you swing getting the leave, but you booked us for Omaria Prime?" Alahan turned around in the couch and hugged Haydan over the back of the sofa. Haydan hugged Alahan tightly. "We only have three days until the shuttle leaves, we better get packed." A broad smile cracked across Haydan's face. That childlike excitement was one of the primary reasons he and Alahan made such a great couple. He followed Alahan into the bedroom. "Now, I know that we are going to need the swimming suits." Said Alahan, reaching into the dresser and pulling out swimming trunks. "And the sunscreen. You know how you get when your spots turn black." Teased Haydan with a quirky smile. "Now, eliminate all programs that do not include a virus that could possibly have an impact on the characters." He again watched as the list narrowed. ~Down to twenty-seven.~ "Computer, compare the list with the virus that Dr. Nymes is currently researching." He waited a few moments because the computer was delayed, processing the information. "Three possible matches displayed." Replied the computer. She hadn’t even bothered to think about herself or anyone else in the holodeck yet…and then it hit her. Nymes was referring to everyone inside the holodeck. Her lines in her facial expression fell just a bit, as she continued to listen to Nymes’ explanation. "Well, quite. I need to run blood tests on Yourself, Commander Banowsky, Lieutenant Semme and Ensign Trew to rule out viral infection immediately, and to monitor any ill effects of the radiation. Commander Banowsky and Lt Semme aren't responsive to comms at present, and I asked for their attendance over 40 minutes ago." “That’s fine, whatever you need to do doctor. How long will it take for the results of the blood test to come back?” <> “I can wait for a few mintues,” she said. After all, it would give her a chance to check up on the rest of her crew inside the walls of sickbay. “Oh, also can you do something about my arm?” She asked, showing the doctor her deep gash in her left arm. It was swollen and turning red and hurt to the touch. “I’m pretty sure it’s infected. There wasn’t exactly a lot of medical facilities programmed into the mass of scenarios.” (Reply: Nymes, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison-Sickbay-CMO Lewis Nymes-15:06) Nymes watched the Captain's reaction as the enormity of what he had reported hit her; he knew that the radiation levels were not suitable for viable life, and his team of MO's had reported disturbing scenes in the Battle bridge, with severe radiation injuries on several crewmen. The prognosis was unclear, but nymes pushed it from his mind - his team could deal with such things in the other sickbay, but he was needed here. “That’s fine, whatever you need to do doctor. How long will it take for the results of the blood test to come back?” she asked the trill, business as usual. "Well, I can isolate the virus' effects with a simple tricorder scan - I look for the viral degeneration of DNA. Radiation effects could manifest in hours or days. I can't be sure." “I can wait for a few minutes. Oh, also can you do something about my arm?” She asked, showing the doctor her deep gash in her left arm. It was swollen and turning red and hurt to the touch. “I’m pretty sure it’s infected. There wasn’t exactly a lot of medical facilities programmed into the mass of scenarios.” "Sure. Okay, let me get the scans started and the blood sample, and then we'll see to your arm." Nymes fired up the venepuncture kit, and connected a vial ready to receive the blood, programming the device to identify the captain's sample. Pressing the instrument to her neck, he withdrew a couple of ml of blood, and set it in the analyser in the Medical lab abbutting the office. Tedious work completed, he moved on to the tricorder scans, taking initial biometric data and moving onto haematological scans, bone works, and genome data. It would be the latter that would verify or clear the Captain of danger. Whilst the Trill waited for the scans to return, he set about inspecting and cleaning the wound, a gash on the arm which was obviously contaminated with dirt and pus, an odour suggesting an anaerobic infection. With care, the doctor selected an antibiotic gel to clean and protect the area of skin, and a hypospray to administer a systemic dose to clear any sepsis. "Captain, I'll review your blood work for immune system problems - thats where any problems due to Commander West's course of action will manifest" (reply Davis) "No problems, Ma'am. Just a clash of ideals." Nymes changed the topic reluctantly, "So far, the injury list stands at 40 minor injuries, one major - Ensign Bracken over there." Nymes motioned to the biobed visible through the window. "CPO Ulston remains in a coma after attempting a rescue of the holodeck." (reply Davis) "May I speak freely about a superior officer, ma'am?" (reply Davis) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison-First Officers Office-Lt. Commander Banowsky-15.00) Will sat silently in his office. He really didn't want to leave. He had to go get a check up with Dr. Nymes, but he felt that it wasn't that important. He felt healthy and he felt fine. What he really wanted to do was get some work done. ~I hate this part~ Will thought to himself as he began to record a message. "Hello, I am Lt. Commander William Alexander, and I am the first officer of the USS Dennison. I served with your son Lt. Thomas Loyola during his tour of duty with the Dennison. It is my regret to inform you that..." Will paused, it was hard for him to tell Thomas' parents their son had died. It made it easier that it was a time of war, but Thomas didn't die in some battle, he died in a freak accident. "Inform you that Thomas was killed in an accident on board the Dennison during a Tactical training simulation on the holodeck. The safety protocols malfunctioned and Thomas was killed in the program. I am deeply sorry for your loss. He was a fine officer and it was a pleasure to serve with him. The next time the Dennison is at a starbase I will gather his things and have them shipped to you. Again I am sorry for your loss." Will paused to think and ended the recording. He would send the message at the next possible time without risk or fear of it giving off the Dennison's position. He then quickly closed and saved everything he was working on and headed to sickbay. (USS Dennison-Sickbay-FO Banowsky-15.10) Will entered sickbay and noticed that Nymes and Captain Davis where speaking, of what he didn't know. But he decided to go up there. He needed to get checked out so he could finally get that over with and so that he could get back to duty and put this incident behind him. "Dr. I would like that check up please." "Healthy enough to respond to a medical call a full sixty minutes late, Commander? We'll see." Nymes said, a disapproving grin set on his features. It was bad enough that there were so many of his friends in sickbay, but letting down his worry and replacing it with feeble attempts at humour was all that was keeping him sane. "Captain, I'll review your blood work for immune system problems – that’s where any problems due to Commander West's course of action will manifest." “Excuse me doctor? With all the shaking the ship did and with all the systems that were down, she was happy most of them were only minor injuries. "May I speak freely about a superior officer, ma'am?" If it were in the midst of normal everyday circumstances or even during battle, you bet he’d be in trouble. However she understood how Loyola was a good friend of Will’s. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll let you slide…this time Commander,” she said, slightly elbowing him so he knew she was serious, yet partly joking to get him cheerful. Then she looked back up as the doctor approached them again. Running a tricorder up Will and back down again, she let her thoughts start drifting away at her until she was provoked back to reality once more. "But other than that I am fine. What about you Captain Davis, how are you feeling?" Will asked. “I’m fine,” she said. “The good doctor here fixed me up, now it’s back to repairs!” (Reply: Any, none) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison - Sickbay - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes- 15:12) "Dr. Nymes. When you have a moment..." Nymes looked up from Ele's biobed readings and Hedges' tricorder readings; both genetic "drift" patterns were identical, the DNA of both of his colleagues was mutating, or being rewritten, to the same final end point. Gene therapy was a taboo subject in Starfleet medicine, following historical... episodes revolving around such practices. "Go ahead, Ensign. I'm listening." he replied, prepping a wide-action antiviral drug, Inkalavir, for use. ~its all I can offer them~ (reply Trew) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison-Sickbay-FO Banowsky-15.15) "I'm fine," she said. "The good doctor here fixed me up, now it's back to repairs!" "That's good to hear sir," Will, replied, kind of antsy to get out of sickbay, he didn't want to be there right now, he kind of wanted to be alone. There was no denying that since he had been on the Dennison, Thomas and he had become pretty close, and though it was only a few weeks, Lt. Thomas Loyola was his closest friend aboard the Dennison, and the death was affecting him quite a bit. There was no guilt anymore, as Will no longer blamed himself for the death, but he was angered and saddened, and felt as if there was no one for him to talk to. "Now Dr. Nymes, am I able to go back to work now or what, I have quite a bit of paperwork to go over and I would like to get it done, I dunno, soon. So if there is no other thing keeping me here, except to tell me something which I already know, then I'd like to be on my way." (reply Nymes) Will didn't intend to be so rude or mean sounding, but he was a little on edge and just wanted to be left alone and in paper work. To Will the more he did work the less his mind would think about what was bothering him. "Thank you, if anything shows up, which I know wont, let me know, I'll be in my office doing my job, which I could have told you I am more than capable of doing." Will said as he turned and left without saying a word. (USS Dennison-FO Office-FO Banowsky-15.25) Will entered his office and sat down in his chair, he sighed and began to think. He knew that he could only cheat death for so long. That all these people dying around him, Lt. Commander Orde on the Spectre, Captain Remae on the Spectre, who didn't die but had his legs blown off, Crewman Sigurrson, Lt. Maines, Lt. Loyola, that pretty soon it would catch up to him. Of course they were in a war, people die, but this isn't why he joined starfleet. As much as Will wanted to be a soldier, a warrior, this wasn’t why he joined Starfleet. He could play the part well, he could enjoy the part. But the reality was that times like these, he had to look at all he had given up. He could have been married had he not entered the academy. Would have had kids, but he gave that up, gave up her, gave up Rachel, someone whom he thought was the woman of his dreams, because he didn't want to her with having a husband living the starfleet lifestyle. And while Will achieved so much, reaching the rank of Lt. Commander and the position of First Officer in less than a year, his personal life had taken a hit. Will had expected to be married with a child at this point, and every day, it seemed he would never get that chance. And when he seemed to have found someone he genuinely liked and wanted to pursue a relationship with, Lt. Yayla Nollys of the Spectre, all that when down the drain when he accepted the position of First Officer on the Dennison. Again Starfleet had taken away from him a chance for happiness outside of his career. But the thing that made Will upset the most, is not that Starfleet had taken away his chance and starting a family, but that it was his fault. He broke it off with Rachel, he accepted the position on the Dennison. That’s what made him upset, was that he was the reason that he hadn't found happiness outside of his career, and that he may never get that chance. And that scared him, because one thing that Will wanted more than anything in the world was to be a father, and he feared now that he may never get that chance. So Will silently sat there in his chair, waiting, and wondering, was Starfleet the right choice for him, or should he make another decision, and leave starfleet behind, and go back to Earth where he could pursue the one thing, he had always really wanted. (reply Nymes, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Dennison - Sickbay - Ensign Alahan Trew - 15:15) "Dr. ~its all I can offer them~ "Doctor, I have something. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I have narrowed down the list of ailaments that match the symptoms of the infected. These are all infections that are directly related to the holodeck programs that were being run at the time." He sighed. "I couldnt' tell you if it' something you have already taken into consideration, but it's what I've got." Alahan looked at the doctor for further advise and analysis. (Omaria Prime - Five Years Ago) Finding himself in that murky world between sleep and consciousness, Alahan stretched and yawned. He attempted to put his arm around Haydan, but he wasn't in bed. This brought Alahan fully into the world of the living. He sat up quickly and began to look around. Haydan was standing at the doors to the bungalow's seaside deck. His hair was messy and the stubble on his face was starting to show. He drank coffee from a mug and looked out onto the beautiful oceans of Omaria. "Beautiful." whispered Alahan, a sly grin on his face. Haydan smiled and nodded. "I'm glad you insisted we come here. The view is breathtaking." Alahan threw a pillow at Hayden. "I was talking about you!" "Oh." replied Haydan as he began to laugh. They laughed together for a few moments, enjoying the vacation that was long over-due. "I'm thinking about taking the afternoon shuttle into the capital." Haydan paused for a moment and put his cup of coffee on the table. "Wanna go?" Alahan thought for a brief moment. "Not really." He sighed. "I wanted us to spend today on the beach. I'm all geared up for a swim and some sun." He put out a pouting lip. Haydan nodded, and moved over to Alahan who was still setting in bed. "Not a problem love. I'll go, get what I need, and be back before sunset." He was always accommodating to Alahan, sometimes to Alahan's disappointment. It's not that Alahan wanted a fight, he just felt guilty because Haydan would sacrifice anything for him. "Are you sure. I mean, I can be dressed for the city and ready to go before the flight." Continued Alahan. "No, it's fine." Haydan smiled and kissed Alahan on the forehead. "You enjoy the afternoon. I'll be back before you know it." Alahan nodded and smiled. "I'll be sure to save some sand for you." Haydan rolled his eyes and lightly shook his head. With that, he left the bungalow for the landing pad. After showering and changing, Alahan made his way down to the beach. He found a great spot in the sand that he made base. He laid out in the sun, enjoying the warmth and peace. He must have fell asleep, because he was startled by a large boom. Alahan jolted up and looked around. He saw a streak of smoke in the sky that intersected the ocean. Sirens began to blare and people rushing about. He suddenly felt a sharp pain in his gut. ~No!~ Without thought, he rushed to the water, jumping in at full speed. He swam as hard and fast as he could. Stroke after stroke, his arms and legs burning from the strain. He ignored it. He just kept swimming. Rescue boats began to approach the scene as Alahan neared. He pushed harder, trying to get to the scene. The screams of the survivors were deafening. They pierced through the air and water, sending chills down Alahan's spine. This was something he had only read about. Nothing like this ever happened on Trill. As he approached, it felt as if his heart were to explode. The pounding of that great muscle resounded in his ears. "Stay back!." Yelled one of the rescue workers. Alahan stopped, resting, trying to keep his breath. He watched as they pulled bodies and survivors from the wreckage. Women were screaming and crying, holding their children. "It just broke apart!" Yelled one woman. "It was horrible! It started on the front starboard side! It happened so fast..." Cried another. Alahan's worst fears were realized when they pulled Haydan from the water. He was soaking wet, limp, and completely still. "Haydan!" Alahan yelled. He rushed the rescue boat and pulled himself aboard. He made it to the deck of the ship just before the covered Haydan with a pale blue sheet. Tears began to pour as he rushed over to Haydan. "YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!" Alahan yelled. "You have to help him!" He turned to Hayden and pounded on his chest. "Wake up! You have to wake up!" The tears were hot on his face, as if each tear were a burning blaze scolding his skin. One of the rescue workers approached Alahan from behind and rested his hands on Alahan's shoulders. "He's gone. There is nothing we can do." Alahan flung his arms at the man, pushing him away. He laid his head on Haydan's lifeless chest and sobbed. (Two Weeks Later - Trill) Everyone's eyes were red. Irritated from the amount of tears shed over their beloved Hayden. "You know son, you don't have to leave. You can stay on with Arisl and myself." Motov Vodar, Haydan's father, was always very kind to Alahan. Alahan smiled and gave the man a big hug. "I can't. You know I couldn't." Motov nodded. "You're still our son Ally." Arisl bit her bottom lip. "I mean..." They all nodded in agreement, understanding what each other had meant. Alahan handed Motov the security cards to the house he had shared with Haydan. "I've already had everything packed. I'm not taking any of it. You and Arisl do what you wish with it." Motov nodded. The funeral was over. Haydan was gone. The house was empty, almost as empty as Alahan felt inside. Motov and Arisl would go on, focusing their love and attention on their remaining children, and Alahan was off. He joined Starfleet, running from the ache and pain that was left for him on Trill. Anything after that just seemed to be fuzzy to him. He woke up as he saw an Ensign being transported away - Just as he felt the transporter take effect on him also.. ~Where are we going~ He thought to himself in a fuzzy warm manner. It didn't really matter, he couldn't move.. He couldn't feel anything inside of his body.. He was infact senseless apart from his vision. As the transporter de-materialised however, his sense's seemed to come abruptly back. The movement in his legs soared through his whole body. He was on a bed and writhing in pain, He screamed out in pain.. He couldn't take control of it, he could barley think about anything else. He screwed his eye's up tightly and shouted as loud as he could, "AHHHHH" He couldn't tell where they were, he could hardly hear anything else around him apart from his screaming and the agony he was in. His leg needed to be chopped of before it would stop hurting, the buzzing effect in his left ear made it seem like it was a very real dream yet the colours swishing around him in his mind reminded him of a colour room he had visited back on earth.. Once again the pain struck, up through his chest and down his back in a full circle. "NOOOO, HELP" He managed to get out in-between screams, "GET ME TO A DOCTOR" were the next words that escaped his lips, His mind was fuzzling most of his thoughts around so he couldn't make much sense to anything around him. Something was hurting him. Something was killing him. Something was torturing him and was inside his own body, inside his arteries and veins. He felt his heart grow weaker as all the other organs in his body had done previously and he closed his eyes once more; blackness - the colours had gone. "Commander, if everyone on board was as healthy medically as you are, I would be thankfully out of a job; But I would like to have a word with you when things have quietened down." It was simply a routine follow-up. In the absence of any counsellor on board, the unhappy task of doubling up as one fell to Nymes as CMO. The loss of a respected officer in a training scenario was obviously playing on his mind - and it didn't take an empath to see it, hide it as well as he may. Nymes felt the first pangs of guilt as he recalled how he had immediately checked on the obvious casualties, without once checking Lt. Turning to face Nymes, she shrugged and said, “I guess so.” She had an idea as to what Banowsky was in a bad mood about…Loyola’s death of coarse…but she never knew he would take it so hard. Not that they didn’t take the deaths of their crew seriously, but many had died on her ship since they left spacedock and yet he chose this time to get sincere about it. ~They were good friends,~ she remembered, then frowned. "And may I speak about a superior freely - I think we got interrupted before." Nodding, she nodded her head towards his office and lead the way there. Once inside she, didn’t say anything yet, but let him voice his opinions. Folding her arms over her chest, left above the right, since it was the injured arm, she replied, “I can’t say as if I’ve heard any complaints about this course of action or about Commander West’s behavior. I will take it under advisement.” Madison knew that was probably not what he wanted to hear, but she wasn’t about to stand in front of her CMO and debate the issue for two reasons. One, because she didn’t have all the facts of what happened while they were inside the holodeck. Therefore, she wouldn’t be able to make a sound judgement call. Two, West was a senior officer and part of Starfleet Intel. If he had a reason for what he did, she was sure it was for a good reason. But all that brought her back to number one all over again. "In retrospect, I may have disagreed publicly with the Commander, and for that I do and will apologise; but at the time, acting as the 2iC to Commander West, I felt it was my place to try to get him to see the alternatives that were availiable." "Lieutenant Semme." Nymes frowned, it seemed the entire holodeck team were passing through sickbay - and not in a good way; only the FO had managed to "survive" unscathed physically, but Nymes was not overly convinced of his mental state. "Okay, lets start this: Nurse, get me a neurogenic stimulant, 5 microgram doses." Nymes scanned the human/vulcan A'CEO - he was out cold, eyes unresponsive to light, pain, sound... anything. His heartbeat was irregular, his pulses weak; and his uniform vomit stained. Still frowning, Nymes scanned the vomitus for the virus; and was shocked by the ease of the findings. The vulcanoid/humanoid stomach seemed to be acting as a viral wall; inhibiting the virus from gaining entry into the officer, but in itself causing a coma. "The stimulant as requested, sir." Nymes took the profferred hypospray and deployed it into the lieutenant's neck. "Nick, I can't keep you awake for long, so let me tell you the facts: You have a virus; or are carrying it - it isn't afecting you directly; I need to run some scans to work out how." Right now I still have reports to go through and I’m sure somewhere along the line we’ll figure out what this virus is and what it’s target purpose is. I know you’re all itching to get out of here, but as soon as you get the doctors permission to go back on duty I’ll put you in charge of working on the nature of this virus with the doctor. (USS Dennison-Commander West’s Personal Quarters-CO Madison Davis/CMDR West-18:06) Pushing the chime on his door, she realized that it didn’t ring like it usually did. Grimacing, she felt a little out of place as she raised her fist to the door and gave it a few raps. Knocking just wasn’t the usual 24th century norm. "Come on in Captain, make yourself at home if you can!" he said excitedly. Stepping inside…squeezing inside…she trampled over the miscellaneous parts that lay on the floor from the ship having been a wreck. “Sorry, I’m not exactly what you would call ‘dressed for the occasion,’ she told him, a bit on the sarcastic side. Then, beating him to the punch, she said, “I think we should get started on that report since this is going to take awhile to get through.” "I completely agree with you Captain. My final report is nearly finished but I thought I would give it to you later as dinner is not quite ready yet. Perhaps about ten more minutes ought to do it." “So let me guess, you made me a huge Terellian steak souffle with mashed potatoes and a big piece of chocolate…anything…for dessert?” She asked, hopeful, as she sat down to share some Terellian Ale with West. “But the real question is…is this replicated or homemade?” "Oh, no. I prepared it myself. No replicator!" As they started to chat while dinner was almost served, she looked around his quarters. She always wondered what touches of home others liked to bring with them. Sometimes she noticed that some didn’t like to be reminded of home, but more than likely there was always a picture of someone they knew. But since his quarters were smashed up, she couldn’t really tell. Sitting down to eat finally, West said, "I would like to commend you on a fine crew and ship sir. They both preformed perfectly in a very sticky situation. As you are probably wanting to know what exactly we were dealing with, I guess I can shorten the explanation a bit.” “Any explanation will do at this point,” she said, wanting to know just what they were dealing with and more importantly…why he chose this course of action. In the back of her mind she kept the note of mention that Nymes had spoken about with her in sickbay earlier, but she wasn’t going to leak that information out just yet until she discovered the reasons behind all the actions that were taken. The last thing she was going to do was start a fight between two fine Starfleet officers. They, after all, would have to serve together for quite possibly a long time. "Most of the ships' systems run Faster Than Light, but a pre-cursor field for a wormhole operates both in normal time, and in sub-space simultaneous so the ships computers could not compensate for the lack of a FTL field and most systems shut down, locked up or just plain didn't work." Continuing, he said, "I am not one hundred percent sure it was a wormhole, still waiting on results from astrometrics but all the indicators were there. If I hadn't destroyed it, we would not be here now that is for sure, and the enemy could possibly have a new weapon or a form of transport. They still may have the upper hand in this, at least we put a dent into their research. Scans did indicate the presence of some scanning device from the other end. I don't think it knew what we were, but, it does lead one to think they may have others and possibly using them for covert operations." ~Covert ops? But there are easier ways to do something like that without the magnitude of a spacial distortion or wormhole. Maybe they were hoping we wouldn’t catch on to this if we were to think it were nothing more than a distortion of some sort,~ she thought, coming up with yet even more questions than answers. Taking a bit of her pasta, she realized he was a better cook that the replicator…but then again, almost anything that was cooked without using a replicator tasted better. She applauded his cooking talents. "I would also like to add my official statement for the record. Ensign Bracken and Ensign Temerarious deserve most of the credit sir. It was Dale's research that helped solve this mystery and Chance was serving as my right hand man on the bridge, then he was the one to get you guys out of the Holodeck. They deserve a minimum of a commendation at least, perhaps promotions or even the Christopher Pike Medal of Honour." “Noted,” she said. “I do think I have some promotions in order to give out, those two included. I still need to confer with Banowsky, but I don’t think the medals will go with argument.” "Agreed." Quirking her head to the side, she saw that she was going to go ahead with mentioning the ‘disruption’ between him and Nymes after all. She had been hoping he would’ve touched on the subject while talking about the mission, but he didn’t. ~Starfleet Intel for ya.~ Twirling her spaghetti with her fork, she said, “So…I hear you and Nymes had a sort of…disruption between command authorities and ideas?” Smiling grimly, she wondered what the explanation would be. “You heard about that!?" he exclaimed. “I’m the Captain…I hear everything,” she said, her eyebrows shooting up at him, awaiting an explanation. "Don't worry about it Captain. I believe the Doctor and I have settled our, disagreements. I don't like people questioning my orders in public, as most commanders don't. I told him where I stood and he could take it or be relieved. I didn't put it that harshly but I think it was implied. Don't concern yourself about it." “Don’t concern myself about it? Commander, as you well should know by now, when there’s a conflict between my officers I expect it to be settled. Personal conflicts aren’t as much of my concern, however when on the bridge and questioning orders? I don’t know…” was all she said. “So tell me…what happened between the two of you. The way I hear it he more than questioned your orders.” (Reply: West, any) (Posted by: Stacey/Kerry) (USS Dennison - Sickbay/Nick's Mind - A'CEO Lt(jg) Nicholas Semme - 1527) Nick was waging war within his own body. He was positive the Doctors were doing all they could to help him, but the battle was still going on. Because of the coma he had placed himself in he was able to deter the viral infection which he had decided he had got inside of him. The infection seemed to be travelling in his blood. But as far as he could tell it hadn't entered his heart, He assumed the virus couldn't live for too long in his veins. He had also noticed that the white blood cells which he knew grew from his human side seemed to be trying to fight the virus. But not succeeding. His Vulcan half of the immune system had just put road blocks up which had managed to stop the virus in its tracks. But also stopping a lot of his bodily functions also. He could feel the world outside him slightly, and was aware several times of people trying to wake him. But he couldn't raise himself from the sombre for too the long or his barricades may falter. Suddenly he felt himself being dragged to a conscious level. "Nick, I can't keep you awake for long, so let me tell you the facts: You have a virus; or are carrying it - it isn't affecting you directly; I need to run some scans to work out how." Dr. Nymes said as he opened his eyes. He grabbed the doctor harshly, "NO, Wait. I can tell you the facts.." He said quickly and harshly. "Once I have you must let me go and only wake me if it's futile and you can't help." He said, He didn't await the doctors approval OR let go of his strong grip on Nymes arm. "The virus is running in my arteries mostly. It can't survive in my veins for long as it dies out. My heart can't cope with the strain, it's having to send out double the amount of blood to keep me alive. Also my human immune system isn't having any affect on the virus. I am in this coma to help slow down the virus, And somehow my Vulcan immune system is able to fend the virus off. It can't kill it at a faster rate than it reproduces BUT it can hold it off. But by doing so I can really move my body, legs or anything. I need all my concentration which is why I was in a comatose state." Semme gave the doctor a plea of help look and then closed his eyes, "Help me" he whispered as he went back under and carried on monitoring his bodily functions. The Vulcan passed his hand through his forehead, wiping the sweat. Then he bent back on his seat, giving himself some rest. Contrary to the popular belief, Vulcans gave themselves rest even before all the work was done. They find logic in it, because a tired Vulcan is as useless as... damaged weapons. Tarapik let go of a quiet sigh - he wasn't going to forget his work even for a minute. He still gave the best of himself to relax. Suddenly, ensign Temerarious' voice startled him of his rest. “Tarapik, is your station able to receive sensor information from ops again?” - he asled. Tarapik pressed a few buttons on the console and said: "Yes, Ensign, tactical sensors are functioning properly. I receive only 13% of static - quite few, considering the ship's status." “After the last couple of days I just don’t trust the diagnostics to be accurate, and I want to test the interface between our stations to make sure its good like the diagnostics say it is.” - Temerarious answered. Then he started to answer Tarapik’s question, “I don’t totally know myself, everything that happened. What I do know is that when I came onboard yesterday this ship had so many malfunctions that I wished I’d stayed on the Star Hawk out there. I almost got myself killed last night fighting vampires in Holodeck 2 which was interfaced with Holodeck 1 in a failed attempt to make contact with the Skipper, XO, and other crewmembers. Then this morning I helped rescue them from Holodeck 1 after we tore up the ship blasting free of an anomaly of some kind. Fortunately, the damage caused Holodeck 1 to shut down. And he got back to his work at his station. A few moments later he already regretted for doing it. Repairs were simply useless - the damage was so great it could not be removed for days. Not so much because of how the “disposable” base was shaped, but more for the politics that was in place there. A Klingon CO and a Romulan XO on a federation starbase; other than the 10 or so privateer ships that came and went, the only ships assigned to the base were a Romulan Warbird, and 2 Klingon Birds-of-prey. All the base support personnel such as administrators, physicians, a few engineers were provided by Starfleet, but not one single ship. It was considered a side show of the war effort, but effective anyway. Chance and the rest of the Star Hawk crew pushed 4 large crates into the mess hall, finding that the victory party had already started without them. “Brigadier K’Haan, Commander T’Pompeii, don’t tell me you did the toasts already.” Chance asked the Klingon and Romulan in turn. “Of coarse not; that honor is yours, after all your ship was the last one off planet and out of the battle zone.” responded the Klingon. “What have you got there Temerarious?” asked the Romulan. “This is for the toast.” answered Chance as he and his crew started passing out bottles of Scotch whiskey. With almost 2,000 in attendance, Chance walked up to the podium and raised his bottle into the air “Federals, Klingons, Romulans, and Privateers; brothers & sisters –in-arms, I raise this drink in memory of the brave and honorable dead; on both sides of the line.” “To the brave and honorable dead!” the crowd in the room repeated. As Chance stepped down from the podium “What do you think T’Pompeii; with a toast like that, and the way he is in a fight he could be part Klingon?” K’Haan asked laughing. “Careful K’Haan, he is engaged to a Romulan.” The base XO replied with a giggle of his own. Just then Chance chimed in “I’m sorry T’Pompeii, but I’m not engaged anymore.” Noting their questioning stares Temerarious continued “She was killed tonight during our escape from the planet surface.” Seeing how everyone in earshot stopped their own conversations to stare at him with sympathy in their eyes “If y'all will excuse me, I’d like to be alone.” He stated and walked out of the mess hall, but not without stopping and grabbing another bottle on his way out the door. He swallowed hard, trying force his tensing body to relax and let the nurse scan him. His eyes locked onto the Medical officer, watching him as he set to work on Semme. Suddenly, Nymes turned to him, probing him with questions. "Ok, Mr Jacobs, I take it the nurse did a set of initial scans on you?" Chris nodded, opening his mouth to speak, before he was cut off by the doctor. "Good. Can you tell me exactly what happened?" Inhaling a deep breath through his nose, Jacobs nodded slowly, arms crossing over his chest. "Yeah...I was working on repairs. Everything was real quiet...and all of a sudden, the Lieutenant just fell out of some vent. He looked like his leg was hurt and then, well, puked all over me." Nymes quickly responded, earning another obediant nod from Jacobs, "Well there's two things that We need to do first - one, get your blood scanned for any viral activity at all; and two get you a new uniform, and incinerate that one. Again, just a precaution, but one which will have to happen." "Just lead me to where ever you need me, sir." Eyes starred past Nymes, and fell on Semme nervously...his feverous mumbling didn't help the Ensign's nervousness... But it actually does not matter." “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you T’Lela.” Chance said quietly. When he heard a sigh come from Tarapik, he suddenly stood up, walking up to the tactical station, saying “I’m sorry, repairs started around 1145 hrs.” Tarapik raised his eyebrow and said, roughing his voice a bit: "Ensign now is not the time to wander away!" “I know, and you’re correct. But I haven’t been on a bridge this scarcely staffed since I was a privateer. That is what my mind started to wonder off to.” Temerarious found himself explaining. Looking down at the tactical readouts, Chance looked up nodding “Good work with the repairs you’ve done.” He said to the Vulcan and proceeded to walk around the bridge checking readouts and status. Once back to the Operations console Chance updated his report for whoever was going to relieve him. (USS Dennison – Bridge –Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious – 1640) Happy that the bridge was finally working again, although it needed to be cleaned there was one last thing to do for the ships log; “Bridge to Engineering; status report please.” Temerarious already knew what the computer told him, but he wanted confirmation from Engineering simply because he didn’t totally trust the computer. (Reply Any in Engineering) (Posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Dennison – Bridge – Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik – 1545) “Good work with the repairs you’ve done.” - said ensign Temarious. "Thank you, ensign," - answered Tarapik - "as you gave me a time index, I would guess at least another five hours of repairs necessary to complete them. I 'd request all the necessary shifts..." (USS Dennison – Bridge – Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik – 2345) As repairs were progressing, the Vulcan had to do a lot of work. Repairs were slow and unsatisfactory.. Seeing to it that Vulcans don't need as much sleep as humans, he requested to take triple shifts. Due to the personnel lacking, as the night shift started Tarapik found himself practically alone on the bridge. (USS Dennison – Bridge – Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik – 0010) The repairs were almost done. The damage from tactical systems was removed, now only the final touches were remaining. Tarapik looked at his clan, shiny uniform and sighed. Some stains had to be made... The Vulcan knelt below the tactical console and opened the Jefferey's tube. A lot of phaser circuits had burnt down there and had to be repaired. Since Tarapik wasn't there yet in five minutes, no one heared the incoming message. "Ensign Divay to Ensign Trew and Tarapik, Please meet me on bridge in five minutes." Ensign Divay's voices came through the speakers and echoed quietly throughout the empty bridge. The recipient simply wasn't there to hear it. (USS Dennison – Bridge – Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik – 0025) The sound of the fusion copper-bit was quite relaxing to Tarapik. He could work like that for centuries if it wasn't for the natural need for sleep. The Vulcan turned off the instrument, so he could yawn without worries for his tongue. In exactly that moment he heard a voice resound through the bridge: "Did Mister Tarapik report to bridge yet?" The Vulcan quickly left the tools and got out of the Jefferey's tube. Tarapik entered the bridge and pulled his now-dirty uniform. Then he turned to the newcomers and said: "Indeed, he has never left it, mister..." (reply Divay) (posted by Pavel) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ACSO Ens Dale Bracken – 1530) It had been some time, or seemed like it since Trew had left the room, Dale had fallen into a slightly introspective mood, her mind trying to make sense of the viral data on the PADD in front of her. As she had freely admitted to Nymes she was no biologist, and a lot of the information was all but incomprehensible, sure she understood some of it, but the real meaning of what she read was lost on her. There was a polite cough, an apologetic cough suggesting that the person had been there a moment or two and Dale had really not noticed anything other than what she was reading. Looking up, she saw Joseph Sanders, the Crewman she had requested to act as runner between her and xenobiology. “Sir.” He straightened to attention, “Crewman App. Sanders reporting as requested.” His manner was professional, yet awkward, understandable in the circumstances. “At ease,” Dale replied “I’m not exactly properly on duty here.” She smiled as she answered him. “Joe, here’s what I need.” He looked at her, his face intent, and determined. It was a comforting thing, and showed she had not misjudged him previously. “Okay Joe, I need you to take this down to Xenobiology, I’m stuck here so I’m afraid you’re a runner again, I want them to analyse all the data on this, and the CMO needs a way of stopping this virus. Get them to…” Dale stopped, closed her eyes and sighed. “They know what to do, I want reports every hour please, we don’t have a whole lot of time on this one.” She handed him the PADD Sanders took the PADD, “Right away Ensign,”He paused in his reply, as if unsure to continue with what he had in mind, “Good to see you well Ensign, We were worried down there when we heard about the accident.” “Thank you Joe, tell me how are things down there? Everyone okay?” A thought occurred to her. “Much damage in the Labs? Is Lab 1 still secure?” Sanders looked up at her, Drawing his attention from the PADD that he now carried. “Couple of bumps and bruises sir, no real casualties that I know about, Labs are a little shaken, Lab 1 is still locked down and secure I think sir, I’ll find out though.” “Thank you, if it isn’t get back to me immediately as a priority, and I’ll order a team to come down to you. Dismissed.” “Thank you sir, I’ll get right on it.” Dale lay back again, as Sanders headed toward the door. Another thought crossed her mind. “Sanders.” She called after him, stopping him in his tracks. “Sir?” he replied. “Could you stop by astrometrics and have them send me up their final report on the area of the spacial anomoly?” “Of course sir, I’ve got to pass by there anyway.” Nodding as he answered, he mentally changed his route to the xenobiology labs. “Thank you crewman. Dismissed” She watched as he left, relaxing in the knowledge that the task was now in the hands of people who did understand all the biology. (Reply any, none) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ACSO – Ens Dale Bracken – 1545) Dale put the PADDs down that she had been reading. One contained the preliminary results from Xenobiology, theproteome sequences and viral toxicology data. It seemed that wherever this had come from, this was a highly complex organism, at least as far as virii went. The report showed one or two breakthroughs concerning an antiviral agent, but these had not as yet been properly tested – Dale would wait until the next report was brought to her to act on this information, as yet, it was far to early to be certain. The other PADD had contained the final astrometrics report. Dale ploughed through all the data, eager to discern if the wormhole, if that is what it had been, had truly dissipated. As she checked the neutron flux data, she saw at last what she had been scouring the report for; the neutrino-verteron particle interactions had dropped to all but nothing. The remaining interactions could be accounted by remaining subspace verteron particles. Smiling at last, she had placed both PADDs at her feet. Even as she did so she began again to feel the same mixture of conflicting emotions as she had previously, turning to Ash, she apoke with some irritation. “This is driving me nuts, I hate being in here. I need to be in the labs.” (Reply Ash) She regarded Ash with some sympathy, gently she spoke. “must be worse for you eh? At least I can move. How are you?” She gave him an opening, it seemed that he wanted to talk to her, to converse, but perhaps felt a little awkward in doing so. Maybe not quite knowing what to talk about. Deciding to try a different tack, she opened up slightly to him. “You used to be a marine didn’t you? My mother was a marine – SMaj.” (Reply Ash) (posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1546) Ash was lying on the bed ,eyes closed trying to breath as normal as he could. He never likes being in one this long .It just reminds him of his past experiences . gently Dale spoke. "must be worse for you eh? At least I can move. How are you?" Ash was relieved Dale was talking to him. He always liked talking to Dale but never could figure out how to go about starting .. Before Ash could respond Bracken continued "You used to be a marine didn't you? My mother was a marine – SMaj." She said. He smiled back at Bracken "That's great. I was in for 2 years before …"Ash paused stopping mid-sentence. Dale’s eyes narrowed slightly as her brain picked up on something and nudged her a little. ~Before just deciding to leave Special Services and becoming a Fleet Naval Officer? Hardly.~ Dale had learned from her mother that the only thing that came close to the love of her family, was the love of life in the marine corps. One didn’t just up and leave and do service somewhere else. No, something else was underlying here – everyone has a story, everyone has a reason for such a dramatic change, and given Ash’s discomfort with being in sickbay… Ash looked up at Dale his face a whirlpool of emotion. Dale smiled gently at him, waiting for him to continue, her face showed concern, friendliness, and warm approachability, slowly, Dale realised that Ash would say no more without coaxing, pressing home the connection they shred through the marine corps, she continued speaking. “Ash” She spoke gently, with humour, “For someone who was Special Ops, you can’t keep your face straight at all. What happened” (Reply Divay iyw) Again she regarded him, deciding to try to get him to talk, to open up. “You know, Since I started at the academy, I’ve met qute a few people that I’ve got on well withgood friends you know? Sanders had left without many words, only promising to return with a full report from Xenobiology as soon as one was available. “How are you feeling?” The captain’s voice carried across the room. She looked in fairly good health, all things considered, bangs and scrapes perhaps, but nothing that would tell many tales of the adventures in the holodeck. “Irritated Captain, CMO thinks we’re sick.” Dale replied with some good nature, perhaps a little informal, but she felt that a little leeway would be overlooked under the circumstances.” “Well get better,” the Captain replied, then turned back and said, “That’s an order,” with a grin. As the Captaqin glanced at her chronomter, Dale spoke again. “Captain,” Dale paused, “reports are from Astrometrics that the anomoly has indeed been destroyed, though being stuck in here I’m as yet unable to confirm or deny any hypotheses. Initial findings from Xenobiology are hopeful, we should have this virus isolated and treated before too long, though it’s origin is…” Dale stopped and shook her head “Idunno, really weird.” (Reply Davis) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1548) "Ash" She spoke gently, with humour, "For someone who was Special Ops, you can't keep your face straight at all. Again she regarded him, deciding to try to get him to talk, to open up. "You know, Since I started at the academy, I've met qute a few people that I've got on well with good friends you know? So he looked up and since he didn't want her to think he was hurt by her remarks yesterday he said "No Dee I am not hurt by what you said yesterday. I understand completely .You know I am glad you're my friend. " Ash paused for a second then continued his eyes looking towards Dale but slightly lowered "It was my second year of service I was stationed in Fort Bragg undergoing Special Warfare training . it was suppose to have been Standard OP .however this time they gave our squad a new experimental Weapon Code name X-80, and they informed us that we will be encountering live targets. capable of outsmarting us,………"Ash continued ,the sequence of events playing in his head as he went on telling his story. (Fort Bragg,Special Weapons Testing Div.,NC,Earth-Cpl. Ash Divay- 0600hrs ) Cpl.Ryan and Cpl.Divay both held their Rifles firmly as they stood there in cold morning with rest of the squad. In a Squad of six Marines . Cpl. Divay , Cpl. Ryan, LCpl. Dunn Were the only humans. rest of the three marines consisted of a Vulcan, Bajoran and a Andorian. "Allrit listen up"Yelled a Mean looking Sgt. Of Klingon/Human origin. His dark skin covered in war paint and a larg Klingon dagger attached to back of his Belt. "We are not going to be using standard Corps issue Pulse Rifles." Sgt said letting it all sink in A fleet Scientist and a high ranking Officer from Fleet Command Stepped outside a command module. Several personnel in plain cloths followed them carrying a metal case. They placed the cases in front of assembled marines. "Here are your weapons for today's weapon testing err…I mean OP sergeant , Ask your men to arm themselves." The Admiral said to Sgt. "Aye Sir!" Sgt said then he turned to his men, sensing doubt in their mind, which was evident on their face. He said "All right men pick up, Lock and load! We don't have a whole day" He yelled. Cpl.Divay and Cpl.Ryan stepped forward first. Both men considered life an adventure trip full of chances to jump into situations that lead to high Adrenaline Rush. Soon others followed. Divay had first met Ryan when they were in Boot camp in Parris Island ,SC . Their primary evaluation led both to undergo special training and finally led them both to Ft.Bragg for special advanced training. Both Ryan and Divay were good friends sharing childhood experiences, Beers, fights and whole lot more. Often sticking by each other during hostile encounters on some backwater station , fighting all types including Breen, Cardassians , Orions. (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1550) Ash looked up and saw Dale's reaction . She must have been surprised to hear Federation has been conduction Covert operations against Race's who wont mind going to war with Federation if such operations were conducted openly. (Reply Bracken iyw) Ash continued his Story (Fort Bragg,Special Weapons Testing Div.,NC,Earth-Cpl. Ash Divay- 0630hrs ) The sqd had rearmed it self with the new weapon and moved into position to enter the training zone. The Zone had been designed to reflect surroundings of a warehouse or a storage facility on some distant planet. It had many industrial containers both big and small. Some part were poorly lit while others had light streaming from huge openings on the roof. Several internal sensors placed in strategic locations recorded the movements within the warehouse. It was full of blind and dark corners. There were phasser burns on some containers and walls reminiscent of previous training Exercises. Cpl.Divay felt confident .he had been here before so have the rest of the team. Only thing that trobled them were the new experimental Weapons they were being forced to use. "I hate being guinea pigs for Fleet egg heads" one of the Marine said to Divay. Ash smiled and responded "What you scared ?" Ryan joined in "C'mon Man this is going to be fun! Look even Savok is enjoying it." Ryan said pointing to Vulcan who had not yet commented on the new bulky experimental weapon. "That is highly Unlikely, Vulcan's don't enjoy." The Vulcan said without a pinch of emotions on his face. "No shit" Ash said smiling at the Vulcan's remark and the rest of the Sqd broke out laughing. "Cut the crap! Lets get to work" Sgt said shutting every one up . "Just what are we up against Sarg.? Couple of Tactical AI Bots ? caus they are like way easy . Even Oxford can score hit" Cpl Divay said pointing to obviously pissed off LCpl Dunn. "Bugger off Divay" Dunn said in a English accent. "Okay enough" Sgt said slightly not at all happy with the lack of discipline among his sqd . "Its Borg Not Bots your up against." Sgt said letting it all sink in for a few seconds, Then he continued his briefing, lifting the new X-80 rifle up "This is a new experimental Weapon designed by Federations finest .It fires a shell projectile at speed slightly slower then pulse phasser, Each shell is a EMP pulse generator upon impact with target the resulting EMP pulse destroys any energy shield and secondary explosion of energy similar to what used on photon torpedo destroys any matter." Sgt said. Sgt knew he had questions coming. But before anyone could ask them he said "Your don't have to worry about where we got borg drons from .don't worry they are not capable of assimilating you we had disabled the nano probes so they cant inject you with anything." He said. "Just don't shoot ur self ! Understood ?Go get em marines, SEMPER FI !" "Oooorahhhhh" the marines responded together in a roar. (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 1555) Ash paused as a lone Nurse entered and noted the readings on both Bracken and Divay's biobed monitors. Ash always felt proud when he talked about his Corps experiences. He finally looked into Dee's eyes trying to figure out what she thought of all this. (Reply Bracken iyw) Ash continued his story when the nurse left. (Fort Bragg,Special Weapons Testing Div.,NC,Earth-Cpl. "Sarg said it's the borg ,they aint gonna runn out sereaming ,they are smart and cunning" Ash said to Ryan on their intercom link Ash hated being separated from Ryan but Sgt had divided the team to help corner the targets quickly. "I don't see a bloody thing grg..aga…." Voice of LCpl Dunn was cut short. "Oxford come in ! what the hell was that" Ash said. But all Divay heard was garble on the comm. Link. Suddenly the comm. Came on with the familier phrase "WE ARE THE BORGG ,YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED" "How the hell"Said Cpl.Divay. soon the room was filled with sound and flashes of phasser fire. "Ash !!!!"Divay heard Ryan's voice scream out not to far from where he was. Running around a corner Ash saw Oxford lying there .black gray lines forming on his face. Ryan was no where to be seen .Soon two other marines came running around the corner. "Hold this position! Ash said I am going for Ryan. He said. But all of a sudden Vulcan was hit with burst of weapon fire. The explosion threw all three of them on their backs. Ash noticed Vulcan was dead . Lifting his head he noticed a Borg drone with one of their own weapon clearly they had assimilated the weapon . Ash picked up his weapon and fired at the drone. It fell down shaking violently . an other fire came from different direction hitting the weapon . the muzzle exploaded blowing Divay's left arm. Ash fell back . he felt a hand grab his right arm and dragging him . looking up he saw last member of the team the Bajoran Pvt. Injured but dragging him towards the exit. Ash realized its gonna take him few seconds to enter security code to open the doors .so he pulled out a photon grenade ,~ they aint assimilating me alive.~ He thought. Just then door slid open. Their Sqd Sergeant ran in grabbing both his men he dragged both of them out side. Ash noticed Sgt was carring several Photon Grenades. And standard Phasser Rifle. He ran in firing . Ash heard several blast then the roof imploded covering Divay and Bajoran in debris . Ash later found out that Bajoran was killed by a large piece of metal that crushed him when the roof fell. All that said, It did explain her mother’s occasional disappearances. Seeing his discomfort, Dale slid from the biobed, and carefully walked over to him. As she reached him Dale lifted up her right arm and wiped the lone tear from his cheek, before resting her hand on his shoulder, being careful not to jar any of his ribs. "Doc's a good friend." Divay said. “As am I Ash. As am I.” Dale paused before continuing. “You know Ash, all of that doesn’t make you any different, quite the opposite. You’d be different if you didn’t feel any grief. If you weren’t feeling like this you’d be no different from the borg that you were fighting. Had the brass have left you alone afterward, you wouldn’t be going through this now, you’d be passed this stage of mourning long ago. However, they messed about with your memories, so what your feeling is exactly the same as we all feel when we’ve lost someone really close to us. You’re not different mate, just grieving.” Dale caught Ash’s look, perhaps of surprise, perhaps he felt a little better for sharing, Dale couldn’t tell. Gently she leant forward and kissed him gently on the forehead, before returning to her biobed, lifting herself up and sitting on the edge. “You’ll be alright. You know that you can talk to me or Lewis at anytime?” (Reply Divay iyw) “You know Ash, you’d have really liked my mother.” Dale smiled slightly, her mind picking a story that Ash’s marine psyche might find amusing. “At some point I’ll tell you my troubles, but this might cheer you up.” Dale shifted her postion slightly as she began the telling. “Now Ash, you think I’m a tough girl. My mother, now she was a tough girl, and so beautiful. She was in the 3^rd Pathfinder Division. It was an Elite Orbital Insertion Unit. I’ve got the unit badge tattoo’d on my left shoulder blade. She so loved life in the corps” Again Dale smiled, though her eyes were welling up slighlty. “I was about 5. Mummy was a Master Sargeant at the time, she was off duty, and the ship we were on had got some shore leave on some planet somewhere – I forget. Mummy and I had gone to the city, we were going to meet up for lunch with some of her unit buddies. We’d been wondering around for a couple of hours, of course, the feet of a six year old get tired really quickly, so we headed toward the bar were we were due to get lunch.” Dale smiled again, the memory of the day running through her mind. “After we’d been in this bar a while, this Cardassian came up to us and started to shoot his mouth off to mummy – called her all sorts of things had a real go at the fleet, the badge – you know?” Dale caught Ash’s expression. (Reply Divay iyw) “Mummy was annoyed, but held herself because of me being there, the Cardassian took this to be cowardice on Mum’s part, so began taunting her more. Finally I’d had enough – I was angry with this chap.” Dale laughed out loud “I stood up, walked over to this enormous Cardassian, called him an ‘ugly big meanie’, then kicked him right in the shin.” (Reply Divay) “No I swear, sure as I’m sat here. Course this fellow took exception to this, and half pushed, half slid me across the bar floor. Mummy was furious. I’d never seen her even cross before – it’d always be Daddy that told me off you know? Now I know the expression that was on her face that day, it was pure, elemental rage. As cold as you like, she stood up, drained her drink, walked up to this Cardassian, and stood there an inch away from his face.” Dale looked toward Ash, seeing the drama of the story run across his eyes. (reply Divay iyw) “People in the bar knew where this was headed, some ran, some moved tables, others started laying bets. Without so much as a word, mummy started on this guy. Weight for weight, it shouldn’t really have been a contest. He took a beating on that day though. Broken nose, arms, dislocated shoulder, and more. Who knows where it would have gone, fortunately, her unit buddies had heard the row, ran down the street just in time to pull her back. Still took three of them to do it though.” Dale smiled, the story near completion, the expression on Ash’s face showed that it had done it’s purpose. “She was a hairs breadth away from being in the brig for a month, or longer. Only thing that stopped that was the Cardassian contacting the local JAG office, said he’d never seen anyone give one of his race such a hiding, he said that she was a credit to the fleet and should be put in charge of training all those other little starfleet marine snots, not locked up. I think he was also impressed with her hellcat of a daughter. Mum got thrown in the brig overnight, with the rest held as a suspended sentence. Irony was of course that it was yours truly who actually started the fight.” Dale looked at Ash again as she finished the story, he seemed a little more like his normal self, if still irritated by being immobile. He was still a little tense and upset, but he was well over that now. However he was contemplating resignation, and life back on Earth. He was afraid of that being seen as the cowards way, but Will was anything but a coward. He was ready to see this war to it's, or his, end. But he just wasn't sure anymore if the Starfleet life was for him. But that wasn't his concern right now. His concern, was after reading reports from his time inside the holodeck, was a certain decision by Commander West. One Will wanted to know more about, and one Will would have probably supported. But Will wanted to no more of the facts, or as much as Commander West would be willing to divulge. Commander West was an intelligence officer. There were some things he couldn't tell Will, and some things, will probably didn't want to know. Will then tapped his commbadge. "Commander Banowsky to Commander West" Will said (reply West) "Commander could you come by my office when you have the chance, I would like to discuss some matters with you." (reply West) "Thank you, Banowsky out." Will than sat quietly, wondering what would his life be like had he not joined Starfleet. "Commander could you come by my office when you have the chance, I would like to discuss some matters with you." "Aye sir, I will be with Captain Davis from 1800 until about 1900, I can come by then. I am sure you have a lot of questions. See you in three hours." "Thank you, Banowsky out." (reply Banowsky) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison-FO's Office-FO Banowsky-19.15) Will was seated quietly in his office, he was going over some files, and was waiting the arrival of Commander West. Will had gone over and over the reports given to him of the incident while he was in the holodeck but he still wanted to hear it from the source. He agreed for the most part with what Commander West had down. He was the officer in command and he did what he thought was best for the ship. Will would have wanted it no other way. Suddenly the door buzzed. "Come in," Will said hoping it was Commander West. (reply West) "Have a seat commander." Will said pointing at the chair in front of his desk. "Now Commander, I would like you to tell me step by step your decision making process on why you chose your particular course of action. I have read the reports, but I would like to hear it from the horses mouth. Not to say that I disagree with your decision, quite the contrary I support it 100%. I would just like to know what your thought process was, to finish up a report on the events of today and yesterday, both in the holodeck and outside the holodeck." (reply West) "I see, well, well done Commander. I am right in seeing you as a rival for my job as First Officer of the Dennison." Will said with a smile. Will was secretly afraid that the reason commander West, a former first officer himself, was placed on the Dennison was that if Will should mess up as first officer, that Commander West would step in and take his job, and relegate Will back down the chain of command. Of course will was always a bit of a conspiracy theorist and paranoid. Though if this were true, it was a good thing then, because Will was considering resignation. Of course this meeting was also set up to get to know a bit more about Commander West. West was a bit older than Will, with more years of service, and what appeared to be a slower rise through the chain of command. Before Will made his ultimate decision, he wanted to see if the service in starfleet was worth it to an officer, with a similar background, yet not so quick of an advance to a command position. "Commander, may I ask you a few personal questions?" I would just like to know what your thought process was, to finish up a report on the events of today and yesterday, both in the holodeck and outside the holodeck." Trevan could see this was not that bad after all. "Well, sir." he stated even knowing he could address the First Officer by his first name as they are both the same rank, customs dictate that he be treated as senior, "As you may be aware, just prior to everything going haywire around here, including the day the holodeck problems began, we started to experience random system failures all over the place. After that we experienced a sudden jolt and came to a dead stop. All efforts to free the ship at the time had failed." Trevan took a breath, "I had Ensign Bracken start a complete scan of the area to find anything that may have been affecting both ship's systems and our inability to move. As time progressed the random failures started to turn into complete failures. I ordered a Yellow Alert, ordered all non-essential crew to be confined to quarters and emergency shelter areas only to keep casualties to a minimum and to preserve power for future use." West looked out at the stars for a moment recalling that day, "Ensign Bracken gave me a preliminary scan of the area, and her scans indicated something which was possibly artificially created. At that point I had a good feeling at what was going on. I can't go into details as they are classified, but what I can tell you is that what we experienced was a micro-wormhole that was created by accident," he lied so as to not reveal what is really going on with the war, "or on purpose by someone or some thing." "The systems on the ship were being affected by what is called a wormhole pre-cursor field, it's a highly concentrated area of Tau Neutrinos that act to open a sub-space window to another point in space. The Dennison was partially trapped within this area of space and as Neutrinos travel at both sub-light and faster than light speeds, it started to affect all systems." Trevan went on to comment about contacting Intelligence and getting orders to destroy the anomaly with what ever means were needed. "I then set the ship to Red Alert, as we were short staffed on the Bridge, I had Chance become acting First Officer, Dale was still at Science Stations, Martine was on Tactical." "I deduced from reading over several scans, reports and details of similar situations that only course of action to destroy the wormhole before it became active and ripped the ship apart was a quantum explosion. Although our launchers were offline, we could deploy them like mines and detonate them when needed." "The Doctor objected to these orders, and I spoke with him in private about it. I told him this is the chain of command, my orders are final weather he agrees with them or not. I do not need to explain them to anyone and to never question me in front of the crew, as you may know is a bad thing for morale. The situation called for several sections of the Dennison to be completely evacuated and crew to be inoculated to prevent radiation damage as our shields were not at one hundred percent. It did work and yes, I did put this ship and her crew in danger, but the needs of the many, our fleet and way of life, out weighed the needs of the few, our ship. If we did not complete this action, the Dennison would have been wiped out, and other issues which are classified would have taken place and we would all be dead. It was a command decision not a personal one. I had orders and completed them to the best of my ability. The Dennison survived, sure, she got a little banged up and some crew were either hurt or killed, but I think that is a small price to pay for the survival of millions or billions of people." "You and the other people in the Holodeck were at the time a secondary priorty as you can see, if we didn't survive the blast, it wouldn't have mattered. The second we were free, I sent Chance down to complete his job in rescuing you. It was his ideas that saved you. "I see, well, well done Commander. After several incidents which caused me to almost be killed on several occasions, including being paralysed from the waist down for almost a month, I decided to leave the ship and go to a Starbase and enjoy the quiet life." "Several years later, Captain Sevant requested, or shall I say, gave me no choice in returning to the Boudicca as First Officer. I didn't want to, but I had orders." Trevan continued, but started to shift uncomfortably in his chair, "When Captain Sevant was kidnapped, i was left in charge for the first time in my career and was in battle. We survived but just barely. After that incident, I requested a transfer back to the Starbase I was at before. It was approved, until I was ordered here by Intelligence. The sciences were far outside of Alahan's knowledge area. He know a bit of marine biology, but that was only a hobby. This medical analysis was something new and frankly very boring to him. The second half of the sentence came out as a giggle, drawing an odd look form Ash, who after a moment joined in the humour, as the reversal agent kicked in, and he could once again move his arms and legs. "Yesss I am free ! finally ! "Ash said almost stumbling to the floor. Even his muscles needed some time to regain their strength. "Hey, take it easy Ash, lean on my shoulder if you need to, remember you've not moved a muscle for how many hours." Dale offered to help giving Ash a shoulder as a support. ~Great ! ~ Ash thought somewhat embarrassed by the weakness. "Thanks Dee" Ash said putting one of his arm over Dee shoulder. ~This is gonna take some work ~ Ash thought realizing the long walk that lay ahead from sickbay to his quarters. (USS Dennison – Divay's Quarters – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 2221) The doors closed behind Ash as he entered his quarters. He had regained some strength and asked Dale to let him go half way. Ash had finally managed to stagger his way back to his quarters. ~My personal space. My home away from home~ He thought letting himself drop on his bed. "Ouch" a voice came from his mouth as the pain struck him hard in the chest. ~Stupid idea~ He thought. Taking his stained, torn and dirty uniform off Ash let it drop on the floor. As he jumped in the shower. [NRPG: Jumping all the Personal details. You were expecting too much .Haha] (USS Dennison – Divay's Quarters – ATAC/SEC – Ensign Ash Divay – 2245) " Ahh that was a great pie" He said after finishing the last slice of Apple pie he had just replicated . Ash picked up a glass of milk and drank it all in one go. He jumped on his bed and drifted to sleep soon after. Not knowing what next day held stored for him and his friends. Deep down in his heart he sometimes felt a greater power at work. ~May be someone is out there writing my life and what's en-stored for me and my friends in days too come.~He thought in his mind before being completely lost in dream world. (Reply Trew,Bracken, any) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison, Quarters, Commander Trevan West, 1700) Trevan's quarters were usually a mess but since the incident it was a total disaster area. Pieces of metal and conduit were strewn about the place like carpet, and one of the aft bulkheads had a very large bulge in it. Possibly from the life support systems behind it. Trevan was able to get most of the debris moved to the un-used section of his quarters, and re-arrange the dining set for dinner later. Trevan wiped the soot off the couch under the windows and then proceeded into the head to use the sonic shower which, thankfully, was working again. After a good clean shower and a new uniform, he almost started to feel human again. He looked around the sparse room in which he occupied and really thought that it was a good thing he really hadn't unpacked his personal belongings yet as they would have been tossed around the place pretty good over the last day or so. Upon walking over to the replicator he discovered that they were online but in a limited fashion. "Great, how the hell am I going to have dinner with the Captain now." he stated aloud. Then a spark lit in his mind, "Computer, is this replicator able to produce simple ingredients and one frying surface on which to prepare a small meal for two?" The computer replied, "This unit is capable of complying with the requested items." Trevan then read off a list of ingredients for dinner and dessert and then had them replicated. West rolled up his sleeves and began to cook a meal, something he had not done in years. It felt good to get his hands on a problem he could solve for once. About forty-five minutes later, the dinner was ready and the dessert was almost ready all it needed was a final touch of something special before being served. (USS Dennison, Quarters, Commander Trevan West, 1800) Like clockwork the chime on the door rang and the doors slid open to reveal the Captain. "Come on in Captain, make yourself at home if you can!" he said excitedly. (reply) The two sat at the table sharing a bottle of old Telurian Ale he had been saving. Trevan took a sip of the strong stuff, "I completely agree with you Captain. My final report is nearly finished but I thought I would give it to you later as dinner is not quite ready yet. Perhaps about ten more minutes ought to do it." (reply) "Oh, no. I prepared it myself. No replicator!" The two chit-chatted for a while as Trevan got the main meal ready. Over dinner he decided to inject his personal thoughts on the events of the last two days. "I would like to commend you on a fine crew and ship sir. They both preformed perfectly in a very sticky situation. As you are probably wanting to know what exactly we were dealing with, I guess I can shorten the explanation a bit. Trevan then proceeded to explain the micro-wormhole and the pre-cursor field that was holding the ship and how they escaped. "Most of the ships' systems run Faster Than Light, but a pre-cursor field for a wormhole operates both in normal time, and in sub-space simultaneous so the ships computers could not compensate for the lack of a FTL field and most systems shut down, locked up or just plain didn't work." He then went on to explain his orders from Intel and how he managed to destroy the wormhole. "I am not one hundred percent sure it was a wormhole, still waiting on results from astrometrics but all the indicators were there. If I hadn't destroyed it, we would not be here now that is for sure, and the enemy could possibly have a new weapon or a form of transport. They still may have the upper hand in this, at least we put a dent into their research. Scans did indicate the presence of some scanning device from the other end. I don't think it knew what we were, but, it does lead one to think they may have others and possibly using them for covert operations." Another swig from his glass and a few bites from the Angel Hair primavera ala Andor, he continued. "I would also like to add my official statement for the record. Ensign Bracken and Ensign Temerarious deserve most of the credit sir. It was Dale's research that helped solve this mystery and Chance was serving as my right hand man on the bridge, then he was the one to get you guys out of the Holodeck. They deserve a minimum of a commendation at least, perhaps promotions or even the Christopher Pike Medal of Honour." (reply) "Agreed." (reply) He swallowed hard, 'You heard about that!?" he exclaimed. ~wow, she really does have eyes everywhere~ he thought. "Don't worry about it Captain. I believe the Doctor and I have settled our, disagreements. I don't like people questioning my orders in public, as most commanders don't." "I told him where I stood and he could take it or be relieved. I didn't put it that harshly but I think it was implied. Don't concern yourself about it." (Reply Davis) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison-Sickbay-CO Madison Davis-15:23) “Captain,” Dale paused, “reports are from Astrometrics that the anomoly has indeed been destroyed, though being stuck in here I’m as yet unable to confirm or deny any hypotheses. Initial findings from Xenobiology are hopeful, we should have this virus isolated and treated before too long, though it’s origin is…” Dale stopped and shook her head “I dunno, really weird.” “Take your time and get better Ensign. Right now I still have reports to go through and I’m sure somewhere along the line we’ll figure out what this virus is and what it’s target purpose is. I know you’re all itching to get out of here, but as soon as you get the doctors permission to go back on duty I’ll put you in charge of working on the nature of this virus with the doctor. Compare your findings, see what you come up with. In the meantime I need to finish making my rounds,” she replied, and nodded at the Ensign as well as Trew and Divay upon turning around and leaving. Knocking just wasn’t the usual 24th century norm. <> Stepping inside…squeezing inside…she trampled over the miscellaneous parts that lay on the floor from the ship having been a wreck. “Sorry, I’m not exactly what you would call ‘dressed for the occasion,’ she told him, a bit on the sarcastic side. <> “So let me guess, you made me a huge Terellian steak souffle with mashed potatoes and a big piece of chocolate…anything…for dessert?” She asked, hopeful. (Reply: West, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison-Quarters, Commander Trevan West, 18:36) “Commander I don’t think I’ll have to court martial you this time,” she said. “Just don’t break my ship…that’s all I ask.” Glancing at the chronometer, she then stated, “This was a great dinner. It’s time I get back to my own quarters though. I have tons of reports to do, not to mention a shower,” she said. Trevan smiled, he knew the Captain really did need a shower but wasn't going to say anything. "Captain, I have no intention of breaking your ship. She's a fine one. But, sometimes things call for drastic measures and I really did try to minimize damage and casualties." “Thanks for dinner,” she said again as she exited his quarters. Trevan let out a huge breath of relief after the doors closed. Trevan proceeded to clean up dinner and left to go to see the First Officer, something he was not looking forward to. (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (Reply Any) USS Dennison - Sickbay - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 1700) Nymes looked up from the data he had collected to view the scene in front of him: the were 3 nurses in the "Contaminated" side of Sickbay, and one in the "unrestricted" area. Dee and Ash had been deep in conversation earlier, now Dee was perhaps looking over PADD results from yesterday, perhaps virology tutorial material. Nymes just didn't know, and he needed to. Intra-Sickbay comms were down, a relic from the shipwide damage - something Nymes meant to ask Ensign Jacobs to fix, after he had finished his task in activating some extra biobeds. Resorting to technology, Nymes tapped a message across to Dee's PADD, disrupting her thoughts. (reply Dee) [... "Computer, record CMO's Log, supplemental. The ship has survived the spatial anomaly, at the cost of at least two lives, and with multiple injuries sustained to the crew, see my later written report. Further to this anomaly, the trapped holodeckers have been freed, which has had unforseen consequences - Ensign Elenor Night has been infected/contracted a holo-virus that I believe was synthesized in actuality by the holodecks replicator system, rendered harmful by the safeties. This is a real infection, and I am yet to ascertain the sequelae of infection. Whilst confident that Ensign Night was the first infected crewmember, the infection has not stayed isolated: MO/PO Dylan Hedges has been infected by "needlestick" injury, and remains in the "asymptomatic" state. His initial scans show frenetic viral replication activity, reprogramming the genome of his cells, rendering them cancerous as well as virion-producing. Initial broad spectrum anti-viral therapy has had no effect on either patient. Lt. Semme was medevac'd to Sickbay by Ensign Jacobs, who is confined to Sickbay after close contact with the A'CEO. I believe the virus to be blood-borne, and have scanned all known associates of Ensign Night (the holodeckers) for the virus, so far, only Lt Semme has been isolated as a carrier. His bloodwork shows trace amounts of the virus in his circulation, while his stomach content has massive concentration of the virus. I have enlisted the recuperating ACSO Bracken to aid me, outside the containment zone, in discovering an antiviral to this causative agent as soon as possible. Ensign's Bracken and Divay continue to recuperate post-operations, and should return to active duty within 24-48 hours, medical withstanding, and EO/CPO Ulston remains in a critical, but stable, comatose state. Due to the infective nature, and the poorly understood transmission, I have ordered a medical lockdown of the Sickbay as per regulation. Main Engineering has one section locked down prior to a bio-hazard evaluation. Computer, file log in CMO computer database, render confidential, send to CO, FO, Priority 2" (reply CO, FO iyw - but not directly to nymes please - its a cue for others to get involved) Returning his gaze to his desk and the viral monitoring, Nymes stared at the information, willing it to make more sense. All of a sudden, a message appeared on the screen of the PADD in her hand. [... She raised her hand in acknowledgement of reciept of the message, and nodded her agreement before forwarding the message to Xenobiology, together with her recommendations for continuation of the research. Dale looked again at the new results, It was strange, Lewis was correct, there did seem a specific protein, more correctly, a transposition of a single amino acid in a single protein sequence, that appeared in the vulcan genotype, which was acting as an inhibitor to the viral replication. Dale forwarded this information as well. It could prove a dead end, but anything was useful. Personal conflicts aren’t as much of my concern, however when on the bridge and questioning orders? I don’t know…” was all she said. “So tell me…what happened between the two of you. The way I hear it he more than questioned your orders.” Trevan sighed, he was afraid of this. "Okay, here's the low down. We were in a situation where I had all the facts, he did not. Now my facts come from sources such as Bracken, and my own scans and other material that is classified. Suffice it to say, I had orders to destroy it at whatever the cost may be. If we didn't, two things would have happened. One, we would be dead, or two, Intel support ships would have intervened, destroyed it and us. I decided to destroy it. Now, the process involved deploying several quantum torpedoes in and near the anomaly, pushing shields to maximum power, detonating the torpedoes and going to full impulse a microsecond after detonation. Any sooner and we would have ripped the hull open and then died in the resulting explosion. I understood the Doctor's objections as the radiation from the close detonation would have harmed some crew. But as I stated, my orders and duty are to protect this ship, her crew and what we stand for, our way of life. If a few were killed or injured in the line of duty to protect that, so be it." Trevan spooned another mouthful of pasta, "Now, the objections were stated on the Bridge. The objection being the casual way I was dealing with the lives of the crew. I understand his way and how it is his job to oversee the medical needs of the crew. That I totally agree with, but once orders are given I expect them to be followed. I I however discussed the matter with him in private and told him never object to an order from a commanding officer on the bridge. I noted his objection in the logs. The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the one as I put it." pausing he continued. "If there was another way I would have done it. I don't like putting others at risk Captain, but based on all information, this was the only way. We didn't have time to sit around and have a discussion about it. It was a growing field and could have gone at any time. I chose the correct action to protect our lives and the lives of millions of others by hampering the efforts of the enemy. If you want to court-martial me for that, fine!" he shouted and pounded his hand on the tabletop. "It may not be in tradition to act that way, but no-one has ever dealt with anything like this in the history of spaceflight. I believe even Dale was surprised at what was happening outside the ship." "You are of course cleared to view the logs and certain details contained in the sensor logs." Ele had deteriorated even more; Dylan was starting to lose his focus as the virions took over his DNA, and Nick... well, the Vulcanoid was... stable; despite his emotional plea to the CMO there was literally nothing the trill could contemplate to attempt to reverse the process. He'd even asked the EMH for help - something a CMO was always loathe to do - and despite the EMH's initial awareness and personality problems, had finally succumbed to rank and done what he was ordered to do: take and analyse the Starboard ward's bloods for viral analysis. The engineering ensign had stuck around, stuck in limbo between the sick and a security field. Nymes had asked him to do his job to keep his mind off the chaos in sickbay, hoping that the rookie ACEO wouldn't overthink the problems Nymes was facing in treating this infection, and to stay in the CMO office - the only room acting as a decon-airlock in sickbay. There just was nothing that would work - the antivirals he had attempted to use were deconstructed at the molecular level before they even crossed the cell membranes of the infected patients. It was if the virus didn't illicit it's effects in the cell, except for reproduction to a steady concentration in the... victim's plasma. Nymes recoiled at the thought: Semme's apparent assymtomatic state could be causing more problems than it was solving, if the body was decomensating in excreting the virus through stomach acid. Making a move to recheck the scans, his worst, worst, fear was realised; a nurse had collapsed, a straight faint; a look of agonising pain on her face. A scan told the doctor what he needed to know, and that it wasn't good news. The virus had mutated again, and was seemingly capable of new methods of spread - intelligently adapting to infect a whole population. "Get her on the biobed, stabilise her vitals." He ordered, collecting a blood sample to analyse. "Computer... Scan the environment in Sickbay, Port ward. Analyse for viral paticles matching the scan results for Ensign Night and Lieutenant Semme." [...Working...] Nymes bit his lower lip as he waited for the results, hoping no-one could see his worried expression. You’re right of course, but what difference the source of the virus, natural or no, it’s not the same virus now anyway, your screening samples have shown that.” "Sure, the virus has probably mutated a bit from the holographic reproduction, but it would be a great start on it..." (USS Dennison - Sickbay - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0016) Nymes looked up as Dee entered the Sickbay's decon zone, and flicked the intercom open. "Dee, you're looking refreshed." he said, jokily, but impressed. (reply Bracken) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – ACSO – Ens Dale Bracken - 0017) "Dee, you're looking refreshed." he said, jokily as Dale entered the decon area. Dale smiled at the remark, “Yeah, I put it down to all the beauty sleep that I’m getting” She answered dryly, throwing Lewis a good natured, evil look. She slouched into a chair, and out her feet up on the desk in front of her, all the time reading the same PADD that she had been given earlier, with all the current data on screen. (Reply Nymes) “Okay, I was saying something similar to Trew and Ash ealier, Holodeck works like a big replicator, only a sort of a real-time continuous one yeah? She took a sip of the coffee that she had brought in with her. “now, I admit I’m no doctor, but whatever the source, be it lab-synthesised or replicated through holodeck technology, we still need some sort of template surely?” (Reply Nymes) “Oh yes, that reminds me, the thing with the vulcan semi-immunity, I think that it could be tracked down to a single amino acid, Lysine. His eyes red and head aching with pain. ~I still need to make sure ~He thought as he got up and got ready; his uniform clean and tidy looked perfect unlike the human who wore it. Ash walked up to the replicator and said. "Coffee black !" Picking up the hot cup he took a sip then finally tapping his comm. Badge he said "Ensign Divay to Ensign Trew and Tarapik, Please meet me on bridge in five minutes." (Reply Trew, Tarapik) "Roger that Divay out" Ash said tapping his comm. badge as he left his quarters and made his way to the bridge. (Reply Trew, Tarapik, any) (Posted Ash Divay) (USS Dennison-Personal Quarters-CO Madison Davis-01:18) Since having a shower and nice cup of coffee, she was now in midst of focusing her attention on the reports that now flooded her already flooded floor and coffee table. Tired as she was, she realized that getting herself to focus on all these reports was making her tired. She kept falling in and out of small dozes, and had to keep finding her place all over again. “This isn’t working so well,” she said to herself, reflecting on the coffee. She knew there wasn’t anything much stronger than any alcohol of sorts, but that was one thing she didn’t need right now. Picking up the next report, she read that it was from Nymes. …”The ship has survived the spatial anomaly, at the cost of at least two lives, and with multiple injuries sustained to the crew, see my later written report. Main Engineering has one section locked down prior to a bio-hazard evaluation….” Realizing most of the crew were now either able to return to duty or held in containment, she wondered how long repairs would suffer and how many of her crew she might very well lose to this…virus. It didn’t make sense to her, yet it did. Madison hated ironic paradoxes like these. Then she had a thought. “Computer, where is Doctor Nymes?” NRPG: If not in sickbay, I’ll delete this section. [Doctor Nymes is in sickbay.] “Still?” She questioned herself. “Davis to Nymes,” she said into her communicator. “What is the current status of the crew?” <> “That’s the best news I’ve heard in awhile. How many people are you letting go out of contamination? Has it worked on everyone?” <> “Good work doctor, Davis out.” Returning to her once nondisturbed mood, she finally sighed a small sigh of relief to know that most of the crew, if not all, was going to be able to return to their quarters and duty soon. Looking down at the PADD, she made an amendium to her own report, including the doctor’s response to what they just conversed about. After adding the information, she decided it was time to turn in if she was going to get any sleep at all. (Reply: Nymes, any) (Posted by: Stacey) "Ensign Divay to Ensign Trew and Tarapik, Please meet me on bridge in five minutes." Came Divay's voice over the communication system. Alahan was laying nude in bed, praying for sleep. It seemed like it had been days since he last encountered the joy of sleeping in his bed. "Give me ten." He replied as he stood and moved over to his sink. He splashed water on his face at looked at himself in the mirror. "Roger that Divay out" ~You're letting yourself go Ally. ~ He told himself. The image in the mirror didn't reflect the young idealistic man he had once been. It showed something more. Someone older, closer to the grave, and dealt a blow by life. He didn't look his age. Someone ten years older maybe. Someone who had survived some horrible battle. Someone who was lost. "Computer, Time." "The time is zero hundred seventeen hours" He shook his head and looked at the bags that were beginning to form under his eyes. ~ You have to start taking care of yourself. How are you going to keep... ~ He stopped. He still hadn't stopped thinking about Haydan. He looked into the mirror. Crushed. That was the only way to describe his features. ~ You arent' going to find someone looking like that. ~ Part of him was satisfied with that. If he didn't find someone else, he would never betray the love he had for Haydan. He would have kept his promise. Forever. Those were the terms. Nothing more and nothing less. But part of him begged to move on. Part of him longed for companionship. Part of him wanted to live again. Alahan grabbed his uniform and dressed quickly. After dressing he walked over to the replicator, ordered an Americano, and ran out the door to greet Divay on the bridge. His ride to the bridge was uneventful. It was late and the halls were nearly silent. Only the light hum of the ship that was somehow soothing. Once he reached the bridge he stepped out and walked over to the security post. He was apparently the first to arrive. He logged on the security station and then stood out of the way of the crewman manning the post. It was typical of the easy-going nature of the Nymes' symbionte, but the doctor couldn't ignore the simple humour that the pair shared constantly. It was refreshing to have new friends on board the ship, and Lewis' turbulent history was a depressing counterpoint to half of his psyche's disposition. Still, Lewis Nymes could rely on Dee and Ash. “Okay, I was saying something similar to Trew and Ash ealier, Holodeck works like a big replicator, only a sort of a real-time continuous one yeah? She took a sip of the coffee that she had brought in with her. “now, I admit I’m no doctor, but whatever the source, be it lab-synthesised or replicated through holodeck technology, we still need some sort of template surely?” "You are right, Dee; I'm the doctor here." Nymes grinned through the glass in the CMO office, "but I agree with you - we need a template for any antiviral agent we are looking for." Nymes paused for breath, and looked straight at Dee. "And soon. Semme's systems are..." “Oh yes, that reminds me, the thing with the vulcan semi-immunity, I think that it could be tracked down to a single amino acid, Lysine. The virus was real, but the very act of destabilising its very molecular makeup was helpful - more tests would be needed, but it seemed like the virus was now limited in function, much like a cold virus. The missing structure would make a vaccine or a remedy more difficult to synthesise, but it was a good first step. "Computer, Dee, We need to start trying to create a vaccine that will interact with this viral remnant. Here's the list of antiviral structures, Dee. I'll start at the top and work down. Nymes said, frantically looking through his notes on his desk. Dale watched as Lewis read various seemingly random notes on his desk. "It makes a sort of sense... I guess..." Nymes said, oblivious to his friend in front of him, his mind racing with half-thoughts and half-ideas. "The holodeck mutated a real virus from the replicator, but we have the viral templates from all the holodecks; the anomaly didn't shut down all the holo-emitters for the EMH, but did cause some... abnormalities..." Dale had to admit. She was way out her depth here. Her comfort zone had ended when they transgressed from the chemical nature of the amino acids, into the biological nature of the virus. That said however it did explain one or two things. “Explains why the virus changed so radically. Also why the method of infection changed as well.” Dale was uncertain if anything she was saying was registering with Lewis, he was completely focused on the task in front of him. Dale now knew what she was like to work with when she was so into a task. "Computer.... At the moment the viral particles first appearred in Holodeck 1, were holo-emitters operating normally?" [... Then the Vulcan got the newly-materialized towel and rubbed out his hands. Meanwhile, ensign Divay carried on with the introductions: "This is Ensign Trew, and i believe you have already met Ensign Temerarious." Tarapik nodded at Temarious and turned to Trew: "I believe we talked through the comm earlier. Good to see you." The Vulcan nodded in sign of conformation and then turned back. He got the fusion copper-bit he had left on the console behind him and once again dived in the Jefferey's tube. Tarapik got back to work, repressing the tiredness and the wish for sleep. (USS Dennison - Bridge - Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik - 0200) One final weld and all phaser circuits were connected. Tarapik turned off the copper-bit and stretched himself delightfully. Then he left the tube and entered the bridge. "Gentlemen," he announced "all phaser circuits are once again connected." He then turned around, barely holding a yawn. As it passed away, the Vulcan turned to his crew mates and said: "I may be a Vulcan, but I have my physiological needs, too. I would like to go to my quarters and rest if you don't mind. I will return in a few hours to help out." (reply Trew, Divay, Temarious) With the last words, Tarapik left the bridge and headed for his assigned quarters. Once there, he laid on the bed and fell asleep, without even getting out of his uniform. (USS Dennison - Tarapik's quarters - Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik - 0832) Tarapik slowly opened his eyes and grabbed his head. "Computer, time!" he said, raising his voice. "Time index is zero-eight-three-two" the computer said apathetically. The Vulcan sighed - 6 and a half hours of sleep and he was still tired. Tarapik chase away the traitorous thoughts of falling asleep again and stood up, heading for the replicator. "Computer, tea, herbal, warm." He had heared about how good tea was for waking up and decided to try it out. It worked. (USS Dennison - Bridge - Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik - 0840) One more cup of tea and eight minutes later, a Vulcan in a new, clean and shiny uniform entered the bridge of the Dennison. Tarapik smoothed his uniform, using the all-too-well-known Picard manoeuvre and stepped toward the tactical station. He could see Trew was gone, probably to have some sleep himself. "Still working, mister Divay?" Tarapik asked. (reply Divay) "Should be just a few minor glitches. Let me help out," after saying that, the Vulcan kneeled over the console, just as the other man, and started working. All phaser banks had to be realigned. This was hard work and was going to take a lot more time. (USS Dennison - Bridge - Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik - 0907) Tarapik pricked his ears as he heared the turbolift doors open. He turned around and saw captain Davis enter the bridge. "Captain on the bridge!" he exclaimed and stood at attention. He turned around and got back to work as the captain made a sign, leaving them at ease. “How’s it coming gentlemen?” She asked the two as she strode over to the tactical station. Tarapik raised his eyebrow and answered: "Quite well, captain. Only three more phaser banks have to be realigned. A matter of a couple of hours. Leaning in closer to them, she said, “It looks like you two haven’t had any sleep. Maybe you should go back to your quarters for some rest. We can handle things up here.” Tarapik lowered his eyebrow and said: "Captain, I have just got back from my quarters. I'd still recommend mister Divay to have some sleep, while I take the shift on the bridge." Temerarious understood that Divay may have been unaware of how much had gotten done on the bridge up to that point while he and Trew were recuperating from their misadventure in the holodeck. With a predatory glint in his eyes, Temerarious looked at Divay “I can’t speak for Tarapik, but DAMN IT, he and I have been working to get these repairs done for over 10 hours now; and on duty for almost 18!” Temerarious said as he raised his voice at Divay. After roughly 18 hours on duty, Chance felt like death warmed over, still Temerarious came to attention ready to give his report. The sad part was that his regular shift had already started. (Reply Davis) “Good morning ma’am. Happily we are no longer dead in the water. Most systems are currently back online. Repairs have been underway all night. Tarapik asked. Surprised Ash almost spilled the hot coffee on himself. "Hey ! Yes sir but we managed to get some work done no thanks to you,Haha " Ash said hoping vulcan would get his attempt at humor . Great thing about kidding with vulcans was that no matter what u said you cant offend them but that also meant that you cant make em laugh either. Holding his coffee mug in hand Ash tried to look as presentable he could with stained uniforme ,Red sleepy eyes and tirdness all over his body. ~Wish doc dont find out~ Ash thought before turning his attention to his CO who had just entred the bridge. "How's it coming gentlemen?" Davis asked the two as she strode over to the tactical station. Tarapik raised his eyebrow and answered: "Quite well, captain. Only three more phaser banks have to be realigned. A matter of a couple of hours." "I have to agree with Mister Tarapik ma'am"Ash said then he continued to fill in his CO "Shields and Phasers are online,Torpedo Launchers are still offline, but it shouldnt be too long we have a crew working on that now." Divay said handing a PADD to his CO ,It was a report of all the Compleated and ongoing repair work. Leaning in closer to them, Davis said, "It looks like you two haven't had any sleep. Maybe you should go back to your quarters for some rest. We can handle things up here." Tarapik lowered his eyebrow and said: "Captain, I have just got back from my quarters. I'd still recommend mister Divay to have some sleep, while I take the shift on the bridge." Ash almost scremed YES in aproval of what Tarapik said. "Just don't get used to it," Davis whispered to them, giving both of them a small smile. "Thank you ma'am" Divay said excuseing himself as he turned and left. Feeling a little hungry he decided to stop over in Tenfoward to get a bite to eat. As the lights flashed by, he adjusted his uniform and placed his comm. badge in its place. He never did like over sleeping and was rushing to get to the Bridge on time. The doors slid open to reveal the Bridge. Some damage control teams were still working near the viewscreen but it looked like most of the major damage had been repaired overnight. He was still waiting to talk to Captain Davis before the day shift began. Trevan walked over to the Ready Room doors and rang the chime. (USS Dennison, Ready Room, Commander Trevan West, 0705) "Sorry for the un-announced visit Captain, but I did want to speak with you before my shift began. Do you have a moment?" (Reply Davis) Trevan didn't take the seat offered to him, instead he stood just inside the doorway. "Captain, I hope you have had a chance to read my final report?" (reply davis) "Good to hear it. Speaking of duty stations, where exactly should I be Captain?" he paused, "it's not like there is an abundance of chairs on the Bridge. If possible, I was going over the ships' schematics last night before bed and saw that on deck 14 there are some empty Engineering offices. I would like permission to convert one into a private office for my Starfleet Intel work and ship-board duties?" (Rpely Davis) "Aye sir. I will contact the Chief to see about getting it started right away. Oh, and there is a message from Intel for you. File two-three-three alpha. Not sure what it's about. They don't usually tell us much if they don't have to." (NRPG: I will be playing the part of the Intel officer contacting the Captain for one post or so) 'Thank you Captain." Trevan left the Ready Room and headed back into the turbolift to get to Engineering. (USS Dennison, Engineering, Commander Trevan West, 0720) Trevan looked around at the wonder of power in the room. He always loved going to Engineering, it made him feel alive. Trevan scanned the room for the Chief and spotted him near the Warp Engine displays. "Chief, the Captain asked me to talk to you about converting one of the empty Engineering offices on Deck fourteen into a private office for me and my, um, work. I will provide you with a list of things needed. Mostly a totally secure comm. system and a small computer database powered independently of ships systems. Also, the room itself needs to be able to be isolated in an emergency. I'll let you be creative on that one." he smiled. (Reply Davis, ACEO either of them) (Posted by Kerry Fletcher) (USS Dennison – Personal Quarters – ACSO – Ens Dale Bracken – 0830) Dale was unsure what time she had got back to her quarters. She had not stayed in sickbay for very long after she and Lewis had finally designed the anti-viral that should stop the virus dead in it’s tracks. She had no idea of how effective it had been, she suspected that no news was good news, had it have been unsuccessful she knew that Lewis would have called her down to sickbay once more. Slowly, leisurely, she got up, feeling more than slightly guilty that she wasn’t on duty already like she normally would be, perhaps down in the labs, in the labs or about the ship fixing, mending along with everyone else. However, orders were orders, and not only from Lewis, as CMO, but also from the Captain, rest. Dale headed toward the shower, and took a long time, to let the feeling of stress ebb in the face of relaxation. It had seemed a long time since she had had time to get up and get moving with such wanton leisure. Shower over, she pulled a fresh uniform, she knew that strictly she was off-duty, but in reality, there was no such thing. That didn’t mean however she was about to go and find things to do around ship, something occurred to her, she realised that for seemingly a long time she had neglected Project Darkstar. To her knowledge only three other people on board knew of it’s existence, CSO Lt Trewe, the Captain and the First Officer. It was possible that West, as an Intel Officer knew of it’s existence as well, but there was no way of knowing. “Computer, display most recent schematics for Project Darkstar – Authorisation Bracken-Delta-Four-Two.” The computer beeped its acknowledgement and the screen in her room changed to a seemingly incomprehensible blueprint – a blueprint for a ship so advanced that if she and Trewe could just get it to hold together then it would mean a ship capable of speeds faster than warp 10. Unfortunately, getting it to hold together was proving a major obstacle. “Computer, display primary stress points on the nacelle struts” It was infuriating, no matter what they had done, the sheer torque from the Dark-matter/anti-matter engines was so high that even the carbon nanotube struts couldn’t cope with it. The stress points glared at her in the angry red that the computer had chosen. There was no reason, it should be strong enough. “Computer show previous report.” Again the screen changed, Dale began reading, and quickly, the words on screen began to lose most of there meaning, as Dale’s mind began to wander. She hadn’t got as upset as she had yesterday in a very long time. Dale was uncertain what had brought the tears on, perhaps it was just the moment, she was already slightly sad from listening to Ash’s story, He had really opened up to her, perhaps that had been a part of it. She made a mental note to speak to him at some point today and apologise to him again, for getting him to open up, and then completely shutting him out herself. “Computer, close file and lock down,” Again the computer beeped an acknowledgement, Dale stood up from her desk, then left her quarters, finding herself in need of some company. (USS Dennison – Ten Forward – ACSO – Ens Dale Bracken – 0940) She entered the room, nodding to one or two other officers who had greeted her as they left. She took a moment to scan the room, not really picking people to sit with, at least not consciously. Subconsciously she knew who she was hoping would be there, she felt herself smile again, relaxing once more as she saw the two familiar figures of her two closest friends. They had all arrived on the Dennison on more or less the same day, she had seen Lewis’s Band play at the academy when they were cadets, but she hadn’t known him then. She grabbed a breakfast plate from one of the bars, and took a coffee from the barman, who always seemed to have something special just to hand. Slowly she made her way over to the table, speaking briefly to a couple of other science officers who had heard of her surgery, and merely wanted to pass on their regards. Finally she reached the table, she put her plate and mug down, and spoke gently, a good natured, genuinly happy smile on her face. “Mind if I join you gentlemen?” (Reply Nymes/Divay) (Posted by Mark) (USS Dennison-First Officers Office-Lt. Commander Banowsky-09.07) Will was sitting in his office quietly. Yesterday they buried yet another crew member, his good friend, Lt. Thomas Loyola, a baseball legend at the academy. But it didn't bother him to much any more. It lingered on the back of his mind, as if he could have prevented it. But it wasn't as debilitating of a depressing thought as it had once been. Will however still struggled with whether or not he wanted to leave the service to start a family or not. It was a decision many in his positions had to face. But was career more important than family. That was something that Will was struggling with. But it was something he could work out on his own. For now it was time to get to some real work. He was about to get up to get something from the replicator when his commbadge went off. =^=Davis to Banowsky=^= Will tapped his commbadge in reply. "Banowsky here, is there anything you need captain?" (reply Davis) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Dennison-Bridge-CO Madison Davis-09:08) “Could you come to the bridge Commander?” She stated more matter of factly, than asking him. <> After hearing his reply, a rather expected reply, she waited until he emerged from his office. Just yesterday they had had the funeral for Lt. Loyola, but had not had a funeral for the other people they had lost. Dr. Nymes had only just informed her of the casualties in total. With the Dennison herself still in a state of repair, Davis was busy as ever. As he took a seat beside her, she asked in a hushed tone that only he could hear, “How are you doing?” <> “I’m planning on having a meeting in the conference room at 13:30. I want to hear full updated reports from every department as well as what’s been going on with the cure for this virus.” <> Then, adding the last bit of information, she said, “Commendations will also be given, as well as a few certain promotions we spoke of earlier.” Going back to a saddened tone, she then added, “After which I will need to start the planning of the funerals for the others lost in action. I need to wait until the doctor’s report first so that I can get the names of those who were lost.” Closing her eyes for a moment, she could remember a time when losing crewmembers wasn’t such an everyday occurance. But it seemed with the current war at hand that almost no one could escape with the value of their lives. The Dennison wasn’t the only ship losing people left and right, other 52nd fleet ships were fighting the same battle. It didn’t help ease Davis’ pain, but she did feel some sense of relief that she was at least putting a dent in helping fight this war. <> “As far as repairs go I know they won’t be completely finished for at least another day or two. Even if most of the systems are up and beginning to run I’m almost postive we’ll be in for a fun ride with glitches.” <> Sighing inwardly, her brow furrowed as she tried to piece together all the events she had to take part of today. That in itself brought her to thinking about Starfleet Intel and reminded her, ~I need to speak with Command West.~ “Commander, you have the bridge,” she stated, getting up and moving off into her ready room. Once she was in there, she tapped her commbadge and said, “Davis to West, I need to see you in my ready room as soon as you’re able.” (Reply: Banowsky, West, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison-FO Office-FO Banowsky-09:08) =^=Could you come to the bridge Commander?=^= "On my way sir, I will be there as quick as I can." Even if most of the systems are up and beginning to run I’m almost postive we’ll be in for a fun ride with glitches.” "Then I would recommend possibly operating on yellow alert until repairs are completed. We have no way of knowing when we will encounter an enemy ship, and we don’t want to get caught with our pants, or in this case, shields down." “Commander, you have the bridge,” "Aye sir," Will said as he waited for the Captain to leave her chair and then sat down. (reply any on bridge) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Dennison - Bridge - Ensign Junior Grade Tarapik - 0911) Tarapik kept on working over the phasers. With Divay's leaving, he was stranded to work alone over the alignment of phaser arrays. Two more phaser arrays were still misaligned. The Vulcan was disappointed to understand that work was going more than twice faster with twice less crew operating on it but had no other choice, than to reconcile with it. At the moment, Tarapik could welcome just about anything that could distract him at least for a second, so he was more than glad that the first officer took the place of captain Davis on the bridge. The Vulcan cracked his fingers and started at level 1 diagnostic. He entered the data into a PADD and stepped toward the command chair - after all the new commanding officer on the bridge had to receive all necesary updates on the situation. Once there, he saluted the commander and, while standing at attention, said smoothly: "Ensign Tarapik, sir. I have been assigned to the ship recently. "Thanks Alahan,I knew i could count on your help buddy"Grateful Ash smiled to Trew then he continued "OK Alahan could you please get current status of all Tactical and security systems including primary systems like Shield Generator,Passer Arrays,Targeting Computers and Torpedo Launchers." Ash requested his fellow officer. "Ill be here monitoring and coordinating the repair work on these systems" He said stated taking a seat on the tactical station. "Sounds good." Alahan walked over to the Engineering station and began to review the tactical systems. Everything was a mess. Several sheild generators were shot, phaser arrays were operating, but not at any dependable level, the torpedo launchers and targeting systems were offline. He immediately went to work, trying to repair the systems as quickly as possible. The task appeared impossible. Once one shield generator was repaired and at full capasity, the next would fail. It was a cascade system failure. He tried to by-pass the automatic regulators to compensate for the power variations, but the problem seemed to get worse. Alahan dedicated himself to the problem for hours. He was able to repair all of the forward, port, and starboard shield generators, but the aft generators still eluded him. "DAMN!" He yelled as he slammed his fist against the engineering station. The lack of sleep was getting to him. He walked over to Divay and Tarapick. "I can't seem to get this. Normally staying up all night, reading reports, and still managing to be up bright and early was all done in a day’s work, but not this time. “Computer, time.” [The time is 0811.] Releasing a heavy sigh/yawn, she set out to get a shower and get into a fresh uniform. (USS Dennison-Personal Quarters-CO Madison Davis-08:33) After having had her shower and her first cup of coffee for the day, she then sat down on the couch. Instead of doing her log in her ready room as she usually did, she felt more comfortable doing it from where she was at now. Collecting her thoughts together, she took a deep breath and said, “Computer, start Captain’s log.” After it beeped, she continued by saying, “Captain’s log; Stardate 2704.02.16. It has been an increasing worry of mine, the crew. After having held a party on holodeck 1, I held behind crewmembers Trew, Loyola, Banowsky, Semme, Night and Divay. All were to partake in a tactical training simulation designed specifically by our…previous…stratops officer Lt. Loyola. Once we arrived however, things did not pan out as had intended. The ship ran into a spacial anomaly of sorts, and we found ourselves trapped with the safties off and variations of programs ‘melded’ together…as if different time periods were being displayed in different sectors. It is a great regret that Lt. Loyola died while inside the holodeck with us, as he tried to defend his crew.” Pausing for a brief moment to reflect, she started back up once more. “Everyone else in the holodeck suffered only minor injuries. Commander West took over command of the ship while Commander Banowsky and I were incapacitated. Starfleet Intelligence reports had Commander West carrying out a specific coarse of action against the anomaly that might otherwise could have been defeated in other ways. Because of those ways however, we suffered other casualties with radiation poisoning and other minor injuries all over the ship. All in the attempt to save us from Doenitz and his conspiring forces….” “In the holodeck we each had to look for ways to try and stay alive, while also looking for ways out. Once Commander West set his plan into action it wasn’t long before the rest of us were out, with the exception that a holographic virus had been carried into Ensign Night. Now having some of the officers contained in sickbay, the doctor has set up various contamination centers for those who were infected and those who were not. Doctor Nymes is working on a vaccination against the reality born virus. It seems he already has a prototype going and is working so far. I only hope it doesn’t fail… As for everyone else, the ship was in shambles, but it seems most repair work is almost done.” “Computer, end log.” She said, and listened as it responded with a beep of acknoledgement. Leaning back on her couch, she glanced at the chornometer. ~Time to go.~ (Reply: None) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes- 0900) ~Thank god, or whoever is out there, for that.~ Nymes thought as he finally relaxed into Gr'iann's...his office chair, and sipped on the Trillian Tea he had ordered from the replicator. The last patient had left sickbay for his quarters about 30 minutes ago. Semme had muttered something about needing to sort out engineering, and when the CMO had called him on it, had mentioned that "I do not mutter, Doctor." With an eyebrow raised as well. It was all the trill could do not to laugh at Semme's character - he showed no outward sign to his battle for his life, nor any visible gratitude towards the doctor. Nymes reflected on the events of the last eight hours, and was aware how heavy they sat on his shoulders now that he had time to think. Ele had had the first adverse reaction - her immune system completely disintergrated on administration of the antiviral, but her's was not the main problem that Nymes had faced; nor was it Nick Semme - his state of telepathic distancing had protected him from the antiviral agent. No, it was PO Dylan Hedges. His immune system was still patent - and that was the problem facing the trill - it went into overdrive, attacking normal cells in a auto-immune anaphalaxis, swelling his trachea and his bronchii, causing an irreversible obstruction in his airways. Mechanical ventilation was an impossibility, and the Petty officer, the triage nurse had passed away after a epic three hour struggle using every respiratory stimulant and adrenergic known to the trill, at 0746 hours. Despite himself, Nymes had let down a colleague and a friend, a friend who had looked after him when Porthells had assaulted him critically just a few days before. Tapping out his brief, impersonal report to the CO and FO, advising them that the containment had been lifted, and advising them that a ship-wide D-lysine innoculation should be considered for any further cases; that Ensign Night, Lt Semme had been released from sickbay to recuperate in their quarters, and would be off duty for a few days in the case of Night (due to her injuries), and Semme seemed fit for duty (how do those vulcans do it?). Finally, advising the Captain that the immediate death toll stood at 3, 2 radiation sickness, one holovirus (complications arising from treatment). Nymes needed to do follow up checks on Divay and Bracken, but they could wait. Nymes took a further sip of his drink, a single tear streaming down his face. (reply CO, any) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison-Bridge-CO Madison Davis-09:07) Stepping out of the turbolift, she suddenly stopped as she was taken aback by how good the bridge repairs looked. It hadn’t even been a full day yet and things were already done for the most part…or so they looked. Glancing over at the tactical station, she could see Divay and Tarapik working on something. ~Probably a down to small glitches now,~ she thought. “How’s it coming gentlemen?” She asked the two as she strode over to the tactical station. <> Leaning in closer to them, she said, “It looks like you two haven’t had any sleep. Maybe you should go back to your quarters for some rest. We can handle things up here.” <> “Just don’t get used to it,” she whispered to them, giving both of them a small smile. Davis was fairly sure this was going to be an easy day. Aside from all the departments she had to check with and the newest updates on reports, she was glad that her crew could get a break. She knew just as well as anyone that if it were a dire emergency she would’ve mandated everyone pull extra duty shifts. However the majority of the work was done and since Divay and Tarapik had pulled an old day Academy ‘all nighter,’ she knew what getting a little rest might do for them as well as the beneficial aspects for the rest of the ship. Walking down the three steps it took to get the middle level of the bridge, she went around the railing and followed her steps in line that lead her to her center chair. Taking her seat, she glanced over to her side, noticing that Banowsky wasn’t there. Arching her eyebrow, she wondered if maybe he was taking Loyola’s death harder than she thought. Tapping her commbadge, she said, “Davis to Banowsky.” (Reply: Divay, Tarapik, Banowsky, any) (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Dennison - Quarters - ACONN; Ens.sg Elenor Night -0920) Ele yawned with her eyes closed, her eyelids hiding her dark blue irises from the harsh lights that had appeared to wake her up. How she had managed to be in sickbay was anyone's guess; she had been in the holodeck, strapped to a metal chair and injected with something that had burned and forzen her at the same time, paralysing her throat within seconds, her screams echoing in her mind, unheard by the onlookers. She had woken to see Lew leaning over her, injecting her again, scanning her with a tricorder and biobed, and one look at the trill's dark grimace told her all that she needed to know about how close she had been to not waking up again. His relief was fleeting, however, as alarms sounded almost immediately, dragging her friend away. She felt alone, beyond tired, and hugely forlorn all at the same time, as she watched Nymes fight for a life on the knife edge that is hope and despair. She didn't know the patient he was treating, her line of sight was blocked by the biobed sensors, but she could see Nymes' trying everything... anything to keep him? her? alive. Ele knew in her mind that it was that total concentration that was the best attribute of her musical, medical friend; and grinned at the recollection she experienced, relieving her academy days, when she had first met him - he had been chatting to another cadet, an engineer called James Hudson, about some trillian melodrama he had just lived through. She just walked in on the line "...she said she would never sing again!", followed by Nymes' smirking grin and a laugh from Hudson. Her response had been confident to the laughter, and had immediately joined in the conversation, figuring the two cadets needed some help in their comedy. She hadn't been overly wrong. Her reverie was shattered as the high pitched alarm sounded, a fatal tone broadcasting throughout the entire room. "..." she heard Nymes sigh, despondant in failure. "...time of death, 0530..." ~...Aww Lew...~ She had been let out of sickbay once her vitals had remained stabilised, and her scans showed her to be virion free. Nymes had looked her in the eye, sharing his regret in the single moment that their eyes met. Both Ele and Nymes knew that he'd not speak of this again. Sleep had welcomed her most comfortingly in her quarters, and she awoke with a happy realisation that her escapade in Sickbay had given her at least a week off, on Doctor's orders. ~Time to get up and move around.~ she thought - her paralysis had stiffened up all of her muscles, and every movement was a struggle against her body - her normal elegance removed. Nymes had said that it would pass, given time and effort. Thinking a walk - or hobble - around the ship would be beneficial, Ele donned her uniform and staggered down towards her door. (reply none) (posted by GC) (USS Dennison - Sickbay – CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes- 0920) Nymes was just numb. He had lost patients before, and he had lost his sister as well, but never lost a friend like this - a slow struggle, almost feeling his patient slip away from the land of the living. He was lost inside a vista of his mind, thinking without comprehending, watching without seeing. Finally, he made a decision - a decision to get out of sickbay and back into the life of the ship - anything that would make him feel more alive again, anything that would make him feel less guilty. Tapping his protocol code into the computer, he clocked himself out of sickbay, oblivious to the soot and burns on his uniform, and walked into a turbolift. Later, he would swear that he didn't order the turbolift to that deck, but he wandered towards Ten Forward, a place that made the ship's crew feel alive. (USS Dennison - Ten Forward - CMO Lt.jg Lewis Nymes - 0925) Nymes stood at the salad bar in the middle of the room, and got a full plate of "green", as Ele would call it. ~"Too much green, Lew... where's the fun in that?"~ he half-chuckled at his memory, and felt a hundred times worse. Taking a seat in a quadrangle of sofa's near the viewing port, he watched the static starfield, taking a sip of a trillian tea as he pondered what to do. Within two days of a promotion he had seen 4 of his friends incarcerated in sickbay for critically bad reasons, and he had seen all but one walk out. Or he would, when the chief got back on his feet.
